Warner Blames Slow Start in '02 on Super Bowl Loss

Monday June 30, 2003
St. Louis Rams starting quarterback Kurt Warner told "The Tampa Tribune" this week, the reason the Rams got off to an 0-5 start in 2002 was because they hadn't gotten over their upset loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI.

Warner told the Tribune's Ira Kaufman, "We added pressure on ourselves to right this wrong. We put way too much pressure on ourselves early in the year, pushing and pressing.''

Seems to me like it had more to do with the one-to-six touchdown/interception ratio Warner himself contributed before injuring his right pinkie. Maybe his inability to perform early in the season had a little to do with added pressure, but I tend to think that the pressure Warner was feeling was more of a result of their right tackle spinning faster than the turnstiles at the gate of the Edward Jones Dome.
