Vikings' Bennett Still Hurting
Wednesday July 9, 2003
Minnesota Vikings running back Michael Bennet is still hobbling around after having surgery performed on his injured left foot last spring, and will most likely miss the start of training camp. Reports from the "Pioneer Press" indicate his absence would not be prolonged, but the Vikes front office has to be increasingly concerned as the soreness lingers.
In fact, ESPN reports the Vikings may have to deal with not having the third-year back in their backfield at all this season. On Wednesday, Bennett received a second opinion on his surgically repaired left foot and the results were not very encouraging. Apparently a screw inserted in his foot last spring has broken and he may have to undergo more surgery. Read more or discuss it on the forum.
