Jesus Gives Deion Financial Advice

Monday July 14, 2003
Is the Almighty himself giving former NFL superstar Deion Sanders advice on paying his bills? According to "The Dallas Morning News", Sanders is being sued because, as the plaintiff's lawyer put it, he took a "Praise Jesus" discount, paying just a little over one third of the balance he allegedly owed an automotive shop for repairs on his 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible .

Papers filed in the lawsuit state that a car repair business owned by Phil Compton installed a new radiator and thermostat, flushed the engine, repaired the car's electrical system and gauges, replaced the starter motor, removed contaminated fuel, rebuilt the carburetor, and replaced gaskets and hoses.

When the car was returned to the defendant's home on Nov. 5, 2001, Compton said Sanders former wife, Pilar, "took the keys and invoices, started the car to make sure it was working and went back into the locked house, refusing to return the keys or invoices.'' Sanders' bodyguards then moved their cars around his so that the repair shop could not tow it back to the shop.

When Sanders returned home, he handed Compton a $1,500 check and said, "Praise Jesus ... I follow what in my heart I'm told to pay.'' The total amount of the bill was $4,265.57 and the lawsuit claims all repairs were approved by Sanders before they were performed. discuss it on the forum...
