Vikings Victims of Identity Theft
Thursday August 21, 2003
An Eden Prairie, Minnesota police officer is being investigated for allegedly trying to steal the identities of five members of the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Associated Press reports, the officer had worked as a part-time security guard for the team for the past 10 years. Allegedly he used information about Michael Bennett to get a credit card in the name of the running back. Bennett became suspicious when he received a $118 bill from a gas station for a credit card he didn't own.
Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and defensive end Lance Johnstone were among the Vikings whose personal information was found in the officer's work locker.
