Broncos Deal Dalton to Redskins
Tuesday August 26, 2003
Having dealt away many of this year's NFL Draft picks for role players that could put this team in contention, the Washington Redskins have turned to next year's supply of picks as trade bait. For the second time in a week, the Redskins have acquired a veteran defensive tackle by trading a low-round pick in return.
ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports the Denver Broncos have shipped Lional Dalton to the Redskins for a fifth-round choice, but only if he plays 40 percent of the defensive snaps this season. If he fails to be on the field that often, the choice is reduced to a seventh-round pick. Last week the Redskins acquired tackle Martin Chase from the New Orleans Saints for a conditional seventh-round pick that can escalate to a sixth-round choice if he plays 40 percent of the snaps.
