Lions Acquire Gary From Bills
Monday September 1, 2003
With starting running back James Stewart out for at least six weeks after dislocating his right shoulder, the Detroit Lions have acquired Olandis Gary from the Buffalo Bills for an undisclosed draft pick. Four-year veteran Autry Denson was cut Sunday to make room for Gary.
The Bills were stacked at running back, especially with Willis McGahee hoping to hit the field this season, so the deal works out great for both sides. Head coach Steve Mariucci says he will not select a starting running back until later in the week.
The Detroit Free Press has a complete report.
