Sapp Out of Control?

Thursday October 23, 2003
What is up with Warren Sapp?

First he disrespected opposing players by skipping through their stretch line in pregame warm-ups. Then, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman referred to the league office as "slave master" when they made him stop. And when he could no longer perform his ritual of impertinence, he lowered a shoulder into a referee whose back was turned.

The following week, after being fined $50,000, he took out his frustration on a foam pylon. And now, he verbally assaults a high school football coach, who was invited to watch practice, for looking at him. That's right... he simply looked at him.

According to the Tampa Tribune, Mike DePue, head coach at Robinson High School, and two of his assistants were watching practice from the sideline when Sapp walked to an area near them and verbally abused DePue for making eye contact with him.

"I was just looking around in practice and he [Sapp] said to me in a confrontational tone, `Do you see what you're looking for?' '' DePue said. And as Sapp walked back toward practice, DePue said Sapp used foul language and said he would give DePue more grief if he looked at him again.

Depue sent a letter to Bucs General Manager Rich McKay and Coach Jon Gruden thanking them for the invitation, but also notified them of the altercation with Sapp. Let's just hope the Bucs brass has the cajones to sit Warren's fat butt down until he realizes what a jackass he has been lately and that the NFL doesn't revolve around his rotund physique.
