Wildfires Force MNF Location Change
Sunday October 26, 2003
Wildfires that ripped through the San Diego area have forced the relocation of Monday night's contest between the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers. NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue said in a statement Sunday night that the city of San Diego advised the league it could not play the game in Qualcomm Stadium, so it has been moved to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, the home of the Arizona Cardinals.
Qualcomm Stadium may be used as a shelter for those displaced by the fires, and the parking lot is currently being used as a supply distribution center for those affected by the devastation.
