White Captures Heisman

Oklahoma quarterback Jason White, who threw 40 touchdown passes and led the Sooners to 12 straight wins and a spot in the Sugar Bowl, was named the 2003 recipient of the the Heisman Trophy. White led the nation in passing efficiency, completing 64 percent of his passes for 3,744 yards while throwing just eight interceptions. Tallying 1,481 points, he beat out Pittsburgh wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald by 128 points. Mississippi quarterback Eli Manning finished third with 710 points and Michigan running back Chris Perry was next with 341.
