Elway, Sanders Lead Hall Finalists
Thursday January 15, 2004
Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame's board of selectors picked this year's 15 finalists for induction from a list of 25 semifinalists.
Heading that list are former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway and ex-Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders. Tackle Bob Brown and wide receiver Bob Hayes received recommendations from the Hall's senior committee, and linebacker Harry Carson along with general manager George Young are automatic finalists because of their high finish in last year's voting.
The Class of 2004 will be selected from the list of finalists, with the voting being conducted at the Selection Committee’s annual meeting held on Saturday, January 31, 2004, in Houston, Texas. The election results will be announced immediately after the meeting.
