Georgia's Davis Leaning Toward NFL
Wednesday November 10, 2004
Georgia Safety Thomas Davis recently told the Albany Herald that in light of the fact that he has an 11-month old son, he is leaning toward entering the 2005 NFL Draft and foregoing his final year of college eligibility. Davis leads the Bulldogs with 62 tackles and was named one of the 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe award, which annually goes to the nation's top defensive back.
In 2003, the 6-1, 230-pound free safety was named second team All-American by The Sporting News and was awarded with All-SEC first team honors by The Associated Press. He's a big hitter with fantastic instincts. He has terrific range, and is equally effective in pass coverage and run support. He also has the versatility to play either safety position.
Davis is probably the top prospect at his position should he officially throw his name in the hat, and should be selected in the first round of the draft.
