If you're the average fantasy football player, perhaps you subscribe to the theory of loading up on running backs in the early rounds, and there is some merit to that line of thinking. After all, the running back position is the meat and potatoes of your lineup. But if you want an edge on your competition, it's not as simple as taking a running back in each of the first two rounds, and a backup within the next three rounds with a quarterback or wide receiver somewhere in between.
In a previous article, I touched on some of the Dos and Don'ts of a successful fantasy football enthusiast, but now I'd like to look deeper at the league draft itself. It's not impossible to recover from a poor draft, but getting out of the gate with a strong team makes it that much simpler to compete for your league crown. Read more...

I got the #3 pick and I don’t know if I should take LJ. what should I do?
well luke, i would say u should go with reggie bush instead of L.J. The Chiefs havent even renewed his contract yet! trust me on this!
No do not go with Reggie Bush that early. I would take LJ he just renew his contact, or I would take Frank Gore.
I have the 7th pick this year in a highly competative league. I’m pretty sure I’ll have the choice of either Brian Westbrook and Peyton Manning. Who should I take and why?
Joseph addai will have at least 1200/1500 rushing yards and 15/20 tds. The colts will also allow addai the get catches as well.
what the hell are you thinking taking reggie bush that early reggie bush for one is not ven closer to larry johnson or gores ability, in addition the chiefs have only bowe to catch therefore will be running. also reggie bush is still partially splitting with deuce mcallister
im drafting 13th out of a 14 people league.I did about 7 different mock draft, all top RBs and Payton Manning are all gone. do i get a middle of the road RB or do i go top QB?
I’m brand new to fantasy football and I’m looking for some strategy tips. I got the 6th spot in the draft out of 10 teams. Anybody have any advice?
this is my 1st time playing fantasy football. my league’s draft is tomorrow night. who should i be picking my first couple of picks? I have the first pick…
i am in a keeper league. and 15 RB’s are taken already. i have the 2nd pick, i know everyone is going to go for WR in the 1st round, should i draft Travis Henry as my first pick, and lose a lot of top WR’s, or go with chad johnson, and get a decent RB when it comes back to me???
Don’t just pick players randomly guys. Be smart. Those that think Reggie Bush was good enough to go at #3 are absolutely crazy. At best that’s a risk…at worst, it’s a disaster. This is what you should do regardless of your position. Rank the players according to either projected points scored or last year’s numbers. I prefer projected because the diamonds in the rough rise up that way – otherwise they get lost in last year’s numbers. THen sort them according to their projected points. Next, organize the players by position. Then subtract the last starting player’s points by each position from each player. So in a 14 team league, my list shows the Phillip Rivers is #14 and projected to have 262 Pts. I subject 262 from every player above him including Rivers. The result has Phillips equal to zero and Manning with a 96 rating score better than Phillips. The next best QB is Palmer with 78 so the drop off is 18. Compare that with the drop from #1 to #2 in RB where the difference is 31 and the difference at WR = 3. Anyway, sort the players by this new number at each position. This list and value should tell you who has the most value left at each position. In other words, if your pick is at 15 this is what you see. You see that there is 195 points difference between the top RB and the last RB to be drafted. At QB the difference is 95 top to bottom. At WR it’s only 47! That means the top WR will average 12 points and the last drafted WR will average just under 10. For that you’re going to waste a #1? Please don’t. Forget cheat sheets…go this way and complete for #1.
I have first pick. Should I take Chris Henry, Pacman Jones or Mike Vick?
I have the last pick in our draft. Should I take a kicker and a defense first? Or a tight end and a wide reciever? Im new to this and im in the highest league Platinum. Pot is 3500.00, and I paid 500.00 to join.
i dont know who to choose in the first round what should i do?
I have just got into fantasy football and this is my first time I already have my team and I was wondering if somebody could tell me if trading seattle and tenesse’s defense for the eagles defense would be a good trade.
luke, do not take LJ, take brian westbrook of the eagles
Im in a League where we have 12 teams. I have #12th pick. This leaves me with back to back picks. Im not sure if i should pick up two running backs immediately or pick up a solid RB and then a QB?…Can someone help me?…please
when should i take a TE, a kicker, and a defense
I say does should be the last positions to worry about.Focus on getting RB WR GQ, then RB1 WR1 QB1,and then go for defense, kicker, and TE.Well that is just my strategy hope it helped.
