Hernia Hindering McNabb
Thursday September 29, 2005
The lower abdominal strain plaguing Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb is now being classified as a sports hernia, however, he is expected to play through the pain as long as he can tolerate it. For now, the plan is to put off surgery, which would put McNabb on the shelf for six weeks, until after the season if at all possible. Obviously, there's a risk his condition could deteriorate and he could be lost at a more critical time of the year... like the playoffs.
However, the Eagles face a tough schedule and might not have to worry about the playoffs if McNabb is out of action for close to two months during the regular season. So for now the Eagles are content to roll the dice and hope their star QB can hold up for 13+ games. If he doesn't, a fourth consecutive appearance in the NFC Championship game is unlikely.
