A couple weeks ago... Saints head coach Jim Haslett was fined $20,000 for criticizing the officiating in one of his team's losing efforts. Last week, Patriots offensive lineman Logan Mankins delivered a low blow to Broncos defensive end Ebenezer Ekuban and was fined just $7,500. What do we learn from this? You can save $12,500 by just punching the game official in the groin after a bad call instead of complaining to the media after the game.
On a related note... it should be interesting to see how much the NFL fines Rams defensive tackle Damione Lewis, who delivered his own blow below the belt to Saints center LeCharles Bentley on Sunday.
The rumor mill grinds overtime... the latest has Arizona coach Denny Green trading for quarterback Daunte Culpepper during the offseason, and the Vikings filling the void by using the Cardinals' 2006 first-round draft pick to trade with San Diego for quarterback Philip Rivers.
Talking on Tuesday... Mike Martz announced that he didn't know if he would be able to co-exist with team president Jay Zigmunt. Chance are, that won't be a problem since Martz has likely coached his last game for the Rams.
