Heartwarming story of the year... New England Patriots linebacker Teddy Bruschi completed an incredible comeback from the stroke he suffered less than nine months ago by seeing his first action of the season against the Buffalo Bills Sunday.
Heading in the other direction... Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Tice indicated to reporters after his team's loss to the Carolina Panthers that quarterback Daunte Culpepper might just be done for the season thanks to a knee injury suffered in the first quarter of the contest.
It had to happen sooner or later... In their 40-year history, the Atlanta Falcons have never put together back-to-back winning seasons. However, the club, which is 5-2 at this point, has a good chance to finally end that string this year.
Back for the future... If Julius Jones doesn't start displaying some durability, he might just lose his starting job to rookie Marion Barber, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona cardinals Sunday.
No San Francisco treat... The Tampa Bay Buccaneers deactivated defensive end Simeon Rice for their contest with the 49ers and sent him packing for home after the Pro Bowler skipped a mandatory team meeting Saturday night.
Offensively offensive... The Baltimore Ravens are the only team this season that has yet to top the 20-point mark in a single game.
