The Arizona Cardinals could be a force to rekon with offensively in 2006 if they can improve their offensive line and the recently re-signed Kurt Warner can show some resemblance to the quarterback he was just a handful of years ago. Already loaded at wide receiver with budding stars Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, the team filled a gaping hole at running back by agreeing to terms with veteran free agent Edgerrin James.
The Cardinals were a darling pick last year in the NFC West, but they didn't come close to making the jump many thought they would. And a big part of the reason for their failure was their anemic running attack, so perhaps the coming-out party will come a year later than was expected by some.
Of course, James won't solve all the Cardinals' problems. Besides the offensive line, they need upgrades at tight end, cornerback, safety, linebacker, and defensive tackle. But it's a step in the right direction. And the Cardinals should continue to be active in free agency as they try to shed the image of underachievers. Join the discussion...
