USC's White has Torn Hamstring

Thursday April 13, 2006
Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported Thursday that an MRI examination has revealed that USC running back LenDale White, whose perceived value has been on the decline because of his inability to work out for scouts, has a right hamstring tear that will keep him out of action for about another month. The results explain why White has yet to post a forty-yard dash time, but will keep him on the shelf beyond draft day, which means teams won't have an accurate time to use in their evaluations.

It may actually ease some concerns that White can blame his lack of conditioning at USC's recent Pro Day workout on his injury, but without getting some measurables on the guy, teams could be more inclined to pass on him. Seeing as how he is the only premiere power back in the draft, however, I wouldn't expect him to tumble too far.

At one point, he was creeping up as a borderline top-10 pick. But now he is probably more along the lines of a mid-to-late first rounder. Regardless, I can't see him getting by a team like the Carolina Panthers at No. 27, and certainly not the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 32. He'd be a perfect fit for the power-running styles of either team.
