Pats, Saints Swap Draft Busts
Johnson, who caught just four passes for 67 yards in 2005, came into the league looking like a potential star, excelling as a kick returner his rookie year. But he never became a serious threat as a receiver. His cost was a second-round pick in the 2003 draft.
Sullivan, however, came at a much steeper price. The Saints gave up the No. 17 and No. 18 overall picks in 2003 to move up to the sixth slot to select him. And he has severely underachieved since, with conditioning being a big factor. Sullivan was inactive for seven of New Orleans’ final eight games in 2005 despite being healthy. He will most likely back up NT Vince Wilfork in New England.
