And you thought it was funny that the Tennessee Volunteers actually have a quarterback named Jim Bob Cooter? How about Eastern Illinois' Lucious Pusey? Yes, that really is his name. Or at least it was until he legally changed it to Seymour. And we got another big laugh out of that until we realized it was his last name he was changing.

Tennessee Titans running back Chris Brown, who is entering the last year of his rookie contract, has asked for the right to seek a trade, says Yahoo! Sports. Rumor has it the oft-injured Brown pulled a hamstring while making the request.

On Thursday, the New Orleans Saints released safety Dwight Smith just one year after signing him to a free agent contract. Apparently, the division-rival Buccaneers are interested in bringing him back for another stint with the team.

With another knee surgery scheduled for next week. It appears Marshall Faulk will indeed miss the 2006 NFL season. And although he has expressed an interest in taking a year off before resuming his NFL career, this looks to me to be the end of the road for the future Hall of Famer.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, cornerback Al Harris has made a "180-degree change in his position" and will report to training camp with the rest of his team next Friday. But he's still not happy, which could mean further problems down the road.
