Alexander's Crack Showing
Despite earlier reports (see below) that Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander had miraculously recovered from a fractured bone in his foot Wednesday, it seems his plans to play against Chicago Sunday night just aren't going to work out.
The reigning league MVP says the pain in his foot disappeared after a session of cross-continental prayer among family members on the telephone. But, according to AP reports, another round of CT scans confirmed the break in his fourth metatarsal is still there, which means he is out indefinitely.
Those of you who have Alexander on your fantasy roster might need to look for another option at the position, and the answer might be as close as the Seahawks' No. 2 guy, Maurice Morris. Obviously you can't expect MVP production from Morris, but what the heck, you weren't getting that from Alexander anyway. Morris is actually a better option in the passing game than Alexander, so don't be surprised if he puts up decent fantasy numbers.
The bad news is he faces the stingy Chicago Bears defense this week. But it would not be surprising if Alexander is on the sidelines for the better part of a month, possibly more. So this would not be a bad pick-up for Alexander owners to consider.
