Do you think it is possiable if the eagles where to grab a good line back in the 1st round and maybe mike griffin be around in rnd 2? me personally i feel the eagles should get laron laundry if hes AVAIL!!
jsut want to hear what you think…
why the hell isnt troy smith in this
Mahmud… Troy Smith is a late-first, early-second rounder, and might be the fourth QB off the board if both Brian Brohm and JaMarcus Russel come out early.
with the SF 49ers releasing tony parrish… do you think that they will now take Reggie Nelson if he comes out for the draft… or do you see them taking a big play wideout such as ted ginn jr, dwayne jarret, or maybe even sydney rice if they all come out?
Havent you heard that he’s not even 6 feet? and he has the arm strenght of Johnny Damon?
I love how everyones hating on troy smith. so i can laugh in everyones face when he goes in the top ten. just like everyone was hating on vince young projected him to go in the middle of the first when he sould of gone #1 nobody understands that he wins games and thats the main thing you want in your starting QB. He goes to detroit, oakland, houston, or cleveland
Troy Smith will be criticized for his height….which is b.s.
but he will go to the browns in the 2nd round and battle with frye for the starting job
drew brees is only 6 foot and he’s on track to be mvp of at least the nfc. troy smith would be fine.
With word of guys like Brohm and Nelson coming out I was wondering if you think the Packers should still go running back or if they should go with a guy like Brohm because there is specultation Rogers won’t be the man, and the Packers desperately need help at safety as well as a running back. Saying they pick about 10 I was just wondering who would be the best choice between Lynch(saying that Peterson is gone), Brohm, or a guy like Nelson,Landry, or Meriwether.
If San Fran can’t get one of the many free agent corners this year they should look at a corner in the draft. However a wideout such as ginn or johnson would be a better pick if they fall far enough. Safety is a lesser concern for them right now as mark roman and keith lewis are playing well enough to give them at least one more year. Personally i think they should get a good corner out of free agency and use their 1st round pick to give smith a better target than bryant and battle
all u naysayers about Troy Smith being too small and not being able to see over the line in the nfl listen up. The average heigth of the osu offensive line is 6′4 and he does fine. And for you complaining about his arm strength, let me take u back to the Penn State game when he scrambled one way then went the other before throwing it about 65 yards on a line to Brian Robiske for the TD. Smith should be the number 2 guy taken.
Tennesee titians are really deveoping into a power house just becuase of one guy. Vince Young. I think they should draft on of the big three of WR (Calvin Johnson Duane Jarrrett or Ted Ginn) maybe even sydey rice, samardizja in round 2.. to build talent around the alreay full of talent and future MVP vince young.. to also they need to sign a studd at defense.. maybe micheal griffin in the draft… mayybe even a corner back
The Titans need to release David Givens…..with that large contract and very little production when he even was healthy….just aint worth it
Vinnie needs a speedster look for Ted Ginn Jr to be a large target for ‘em
TROY SMITH IS THE BEST ATH. THERE IS IN HIS DRAFT CLASS!!!!!!!!!
HE SHOULD GO 1st OR 2d!!!!!!!!!
troy smith knows how to win games.also who cares abouit his height.drew brees?also he has a rocket arm and whoever said he has the arm strength of johnny damon is a total moron.have you watched the guy play?extremely accurate too and hes a great athlete can almost always avoid the rush and can tuck and run.
troy smith will never ake it in the nfl just like jason white.
Jason White couln’t run like Troy Smith he was a pure pocket passer. Also Jason Whiye has a rag arm unlike Troy Smith so id you are going to make a comparison, at least make it somewhat relevant
Troy is a Big Ten QB, Just like Archie was a big ten running back, Archie who? Use your ESPN encyclopedia, pg 765, all hype!
Troy Smith may be the best ATHLETE as per some opinions (not mine) but is not even close to the best NFL Quarterback prospect. He should consider switching positions or going to Canada
switch positions. r u kidding me. Troy can make all the pros and this year he was almost a pure packet passer. You watch he’ll be a star in the league
“all the throws” not pros my bad
Troy Smith should at least be given a shot. I wouldn’t say he is in the mold of a drew brees because he is a freak but he should at least have a chance. I think there is a good possibility that Philly could draft him to take over for mcnabb down the road. Obviously Cleveland and maybe even Kansas City. KC has a great running game and some weapons. Trent Green just doesn’t have IT like Troy to win it all. He could be a huge bust, but an athlete like that needs a chance in the NFL
Trent Green has thrown for 4000 yards 3 straight years….and to what WR? if you say trent doesnt have what it takes to win it all your a fool…he has had a terrible defense in KC forever
Why would Brian Brohm be taken before the Heisman trophy winner you need mental help.
you obviously have no idea how the nfl scouting system works, besides we will never know the true mock draft until after the combine….mario williams wouldnt have been a top 10 pick much less number 1 overall if he didnt put up freakish numbers at the combine
Brian Brohm choked against Rutgers and the competition he played was far inferior to Troy Smith’s and Troy still had better numbers
you also can’t count out that trent owns the nfl single season record for passing yardage at over 5,000 yards. If he went to a place like chicago, tampa, or miami there would be no doubt that they would be the team to beat and possibly could go undefeated.
jamarus russell is the best NFL type quarterback in this draft class… “russel is underrated and brady quinn is overrated”… this quote will be turned to a fact when LSU beats NOTRE DAME in the sugar bowl!!!
i definitely see where you are coming from.. i personally think brady quinn is overated… Russell will be a great nfl player, much similarities to that of daunte culpepper
mark my words “troy smith will never amount to anything in the pros”
is does not matter if smith won the heisman. winning the heisman ALMOST says nothing these days. whatever happened to jason white
lax your a moron green doesnt hold that record marino does
retard
i dont care wut anybody n dis room says brian brohm is def the best qb if he enters the draft brady quinn i mean brady “mr. choke” quinn has he ever beaten a top 10 ranked team hes overrated nd michael is the best running back by far b/c he stayed for three out of 4 years in college cant say the same bout adrian peterson injurin himself divin in the endzone dumbass lol mike bush pumbles defenders
i mean im a uofl fan but damn i dont care wut u say about troy smith he is the mannd he won the heisman but hes not even a first round prospect come on now man hes the real deal u gotta give credit were credit is due
maybe you should go back to school and learn how to speak proper english….
Quinn beat #3 Michigan at the Big house, remember?
Sorry the break it to all of you OSU fans, but Troy Smith just dosent have the stuff to be an elite NFL QB, if he can sit for a couple years and learn a professional system then maybe he can be a solid backup . You need a lot more than athleticism to be a good quarterback… just ask eric crouch
To all of you out there who think Troy Smith should be the first man taken, simply because of his Heisman trophy, YOU ARE IDIOTS! The NFL DOES NOT CARE who won the Heisman Trophy because they look for the most promising players. Brady Quinn is the most promising player in this draft. Why? Because he played in an NFL system for two years, under a head coach who won 4 Super Bowls. I’m so tired of all this Troy Smith crap. He was merely the best player on the best team, not best player in the country. How ridiculous….
You all dont have to worry about Brian Brohm entering the draft. I live in Louisville and in the local newspaper he said “I totally expect to be back next year.” So all you Troy Smith lovers he maybe going higher in the draft.
For the Troy Smith boosters, please do, as someone suggested, go look at that PSU game. Smith threw 2 picks and led his team to a halftime deficit, at home, against a mediocre team that less-than-stellar ND was beating 41-3 by the fourth quarter. That “65 yard” TD was actually 37 yards, and essentially one that even the likes of Andrew Walter could make. On the bright side, Smith’s stats were slightly ahead of Morelli’s that day. Impressive. If I were a Smith booster, I most certainly would not point to that game (nor the performance against 2-10 Illinois). The point is, the guy is not perfect, and his W-L record does not mean much to scouts. They are looking at players, not teams. Brohm and Quinn are both better prospects. Smith would be better served in the 2nd round anyway with an established team around him.
i said Smith threw it 65 yards but it ws actually 55. I was not talking from scrimage. Also is the guy allowed to have an off game. Peyton Mannibg has off games and the only on-games Brady Quinn has are against air force and other sub par teams.
The only off game Brian Brohm had this whole year was against rutgers and it wasn’t really his fault because the offensive line was horrible that game and they offered him very little protection.
Troy Smith will not go in the first round guaranteed. Brady Quinn is the best quarterback in the draft end of story. Why is everyone hating on him. Get over yourselfs and Troy Smith cuz he will never make it in the NFL. Brady Quinn will. Any questions.
Troy Smith will get drafted in the 2nd round by Cleveland. He’s to short and will never make it in the NFL. I am a huge notre dame fan but I don’t think Brady Quinn will do it either. What about Jamarcuss Russell everybody? I’ve heard good things about him but haven’t got the chance to watch him play. Tell me what you think about him.
Someone was curious about the qb spot… the best qb in the draft is outta houston, Calvin Kolb… u can’t beat him and he will go in the 4th or so… i love nd too, but brady just won’t have it on Kolb…
You all are forgetting something very important about Troy Smith. He is a survivor. He has heart and determination that is rare which is something most of the overpaid prima donnas in the NFL LACK. No matter where he goes, that kid will give 1000%. He is a class act that I would bet on in the first round. And if Cleveland gets a chance at getting him, I hope they learned from Houston’s mistake. Houston is kicking themselves in the pants that they let Vince Young go.
i agree quinn is overated, troy will go in the 2nd maybe to the ravens as a potential heir to mcnair, but i think the best college QB is a junior out of hawaii, colt brennan. he leads the nation’s top offense and is gonna be back for one more year!
Colt Brennan and Calvin Colb have not played any big time competition. I’m not saying there not good, but they haven’t proved themselves yet. It will be interesting to see their combine numbers especially if Brennan declares.
all u guys r stupid Troy will be #1 draft pick i think brady is overratted but i think cleveland #3pick will take him home jamarcus russell reminds me of Daunte Culpepper i think he will go to the packers #16 because the packers do’nt trust Aaron rodgers enough to take over the starting spot and if Ted ginn enters the draft which i do’nt think he will but if he does he will go to Houston #8
After watching the Sugar Bowl last night…I think my hometown team, the detroit lions, should draft Jamarcuss Russell. The guy has everything you need to be successful in the NFL. And to all you Ohio State fans, TROY SMITH WILL NOT BE GOOD IN THE NFL, GET IT IN YOUR HEADS.
listen here johne, i am a life long tortured lions fan, but if you ask me jamarcuss russell is not worth the second overall pick in the draft. i think the raiders will be taking brady quinn with the first overall pick so that leaves us lions fans to speculate what bright young star are the lions going to ruin, it wont be jamarcuss russell and if it happens to be a wide reciever i might have to kill myself
Troy smith isnt in this muhmad because he is 5-11 or 6-0 and DID U WATCH THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!! thats why he wont get picked 1st round he is too short he falls apart without great wide recivers like ginn and he is sadly not fast enough!! dont get me wrong though he is fast as hell but if he cant outrun some of those d linemen from florida he is screwed in the nfl because nfl d linemen are twice as fast
Where do you think Brady Quinn from ND will go?
Raiders, Lions or Brown?
well richardo i think the raiders will take him #1 overall. who do you think he will go to?
Well Jtrian i think that the raiders will take Calvin Johnson and the lions will kill him and take him
All you retards, Brady Quinn is a top caliber Qaurterback He has speed, a strong arm and a smart mind, He is easily the 1st Qb taken in the Draft
And whoever “osuchamps” is you must be stupid because Troy Smith isnt even going in the 2nd round maybe late 2nd hes to small and not strong enough.
I think Brady Quinn will be taken by the Cleveland. QB’s drop in the draft did u see what happened to Leinart last year, especially with JeMarcus Russell out there. Troy Smith with go 2nd round too.
Mikey, Ya i guess your right. QB’s do drop in the draft, but i dont think JaMarcus Russell will be a big Factor in that
Jemarcus Russell is the more athletic QB and he beat Brady Quinn in the Sugar Bowl. But I was wrong last year when Bush went 2nd overall. As for my opinion on Troy Smith, I think hes a good QB but I dont think hes the kinda that can get it done by himself, he needs good players around for him to be successful in the NFL.
Is there anyone else in the upcoming draft that is better overall than Calvin Johnson, if so who and why?
Troy Smith is an ath. that will make it. I think that Couch was a good QB. that had no line in front of him. Troy may go later in the draft but what will happen if he turns out like big Ben what a draft pick.
big ben? hw was a 1st round pick which troy smith is not going to be, and a 1 year wonder
you guys are all retarted Troy Smith is horrible did u see in the national champonship game against an NFL like defense he blew it. Russell is great not gonna lie being that i am a ND fan but Quinn wherever he goes will have an easier time if he is thrown in the fire right away, Russell will be good but in time
Nick is a clown if he thiks troy smith is going first or second round
Troy Smiths going 2nd. Heisman winner, great arm strength, can move out of the pocket, and to many teams need QB’s even backup QB’s. Hes an athlete period.
A.D is by far the best running back in the draft anybody wit commen sense nows that.
troy smith probly isnt gonna be much better than seneca wallace cuz thers countless comparisons in size strength and speed but lets talk about the most complete player with the most potential and skill- calvin johnson
troy smith is gonna be the next michael vick and doug flutie. This is how hell be michael Vick. The most overrated Qb ever. Hell be liek doug flutie becasue hes goign to go to the cfl after his 1st year and whoever said that troy smiths gonna be in the top 10 just kill yourself bc you obvioulsy dont watch football
im replying to nick. He cant win games in the nfl when ur throwing 15 attmepts every game. KILL YOURSELF!!!!!!
Calvin Johnson will be a playmaker in the NFL. I also think Ted Ginn Jr. and Robert Meachem could be as well.
Calvin Johnson- 6 ft 4 240 lbs 4.3 on the 40 and he has the best hands coming out of college in the last probly 15 years Hes obviously the best player in the draft
c’mon everbody knows troy smithis goin to be up there with brady quinn and ja’marcus russle! look at the past speed QB’s Micheal vick was drafted over LT! vince young won rookie of the year and played in the pro bowl!
troy smith is goin 2 da browns in da 2nd round and peterson or cj if he is there will be da 1st pick 4 my dawgs
Troy Smith wont go until the second round. I think the Browns will take him. I think that Calvin Johnson will be the next best widereiver in the NFL for years to come. He will break many records if he has a quarterback to get him the ball.
tommy and poppa dolla yer retarded and so is everyone else that says smith is decent. vick is way faster than smith as you coulda seen against the florida d and he doesnt have a strong or accurate arm and plus vick is the most overrated player in the league and v young hes probably gonna be the most dominant qb for the next 10 years
First of all Troy Smith won the most recent arm strength competition and second, ok he did have a bad game against a good UF team. But his main target was gone. Anyway, Vince Young and Michael Vick have had way more worse games then that. So I dont think one bad game will determine how good a QB really is. As for the most dominant QB in the next 10yrs, well its too early to tell but Jamarcus Russell could be.
Troy is going to be a bust in the NFL. He wont make it very far. I think JaMarcus Russell will be pretty good if he goes to a team with a decent QB coach. As for Brady Quinn, he will be good but no Steve Young.
This is not difficult to figure out. Small, athletic QBs can thrive in college because they are substantially faster than most of the defenders they face, and you don’t have to fire the ball downfield because te corners don’t all run 4.3 in the forty. When you arrive in the big leagues, running around is a bad option for the QB; all the linebackers weigh 270, and the safeties weigh 230. Getting hit in the open field is bad for your life expectancy. And because EVERYONE is so fast, you have to be able to deliver the ball to the receiver in a real hurry, or some really fast guy is going to pick you off. Being tall is key because the O line isn’t 6′2″ to 6′4″ anymore, like in college. Now they are all north of 6′4″, and so are the D-linemen. You not only have to see over them, you have to throw over (or through) their outstretched arms. That’s why the NFL scouts love 6 foot 5 inch QBs. And while they like mobility, it’s more like mobility while IN the pocket, and escapability while OUT OF the pocket. Once the pocket breaks down, they just want the guy to avoid getting killed. If you look back, all of the QBs that ran all over the field were constantly getting nicked up, and none had really long careers. Factor in the complexity of play calling and defense reading in the NFL, and you can understand why the scouts lean toward college QBs that have already worked in a pro-type system. If you total up all of these guidelines, you get Brady Quinn. Doesn’t mean he will succeed; it just means that he has the best odds of doing so, and will therefore be the first QB taken in the draft.
Lions need O line help, but can they get that in free agency is the question. i think they should go after the next possible hall of fame RB in Peterson and get some decent O line help in the draft.
The lions have a really good track record recently in the draft. Theyve done a really fantastic job of stockpiling that elite unit of wr but i still think they should keep improving their “greatest show on turf” by drafting my man calvin johnson. If they get him theyll have many championships in the years to come especially with 3 great qbs like kitna mcown n orlovsky They struggled last year but if they keep making all the smart moves like theyve been known to make theyre gonna be an elite team in the nfl
Millen for prez in 08!
QB rating of 161.9 is pretty damn good, a 65% completion rate and 30 tds compared to 6 ints… on paper that looks really good… but people always will knock him for his height… in terms of arm strength, he isn’t gonna amaze anybody but its still quite good, and he at least has a decent throwing motion unlike vince young. I’d rather have a short qb than one with a funky throwing motion. Troy Smith IS fast, just not world-class. It isn’t his fault the O-Line couldn’t block the amazing Florida D-Line and I’m sure Vick would’ve even had trouble escaping the heat they put on. Vince Young was being put down almost as much as Troy Smith is this year. What saved him is he didn’t fluke againt USC under the national spotlight, as opposed to Smith who flopped. Until recently, Manning couldn’t beat the Patriots and he’s widely considered the best qb in the game and possibly among the legends. Troy Smith had bad games just like any qb such as Manning when facing NE. However, Smith put up good numbers against Michigan in a shoot-out, so you couldn’t make the arguement that the defense backed him up, because they allowed 39 points. Smith had a completion % of over 70 and threw for 316 yrds, 4 tds and 1 int which translates to a 162.7 qb rating. Idk if its just me, but that game wasn’t exactly any ordinary game. Had i not been at the USC-Cal game, I’d have watched the entire game. My point is, Smith might not be a sexy pick for any team to have as a qb because of the overanalysis that gets put into prospects, but he is a proven winner and has had great performances against elite teams. While he fluked at FLorida, he still had a great year overall evidenced by the Heisman trophy. Had he had a better performance in the BCS title game, he’d have Vince-Young status in this years draft, or at least close to it. The raiders would rather have a strong armed qb in the first round, but al davis loves the big names. He can opt to choose the freak in calvin johnson and get troy smith in a later round. Troy smith is a 2nd-3rd rounder with mid-late first round talent. He is definitely a project player, but if he can get lucky like Vince Young falling to Norm Chow, he too can have a bright future. Both sides have an arguement, and Smith is a boom or bust pick and a risk, but never count out a heisman winner and a proven winner (exception being the Florida game)
anyways thats my thoughts
yea im in total agreement dude
how do you guys feel about chris leak? Will him being 5′11″ and 7/8 of an inch kill his draft stock even though he murdered ohio state?
i think chris leak will be a lot better than troy smith in the nfl at the QB position. troy smith just might switch to receiver. even though chris leak is not the average size that an nfl qb is i think he will still be pretty good. all is needs some learning and it will take some from nfl experience. i am a cowboys fan and who do you guys think they will take in the first round. i look at mock drafts every day and the most seen names are justin blalock and dwayne bowe. who do you guys think they should draft?
I think Leak has potential… but the whooping of Ohio State included great defense and even a td from tebow… leak had talent around him, but he deserves a shot in the nfl and would be a first day selection on a good day. the reason i say on a good day is because that doesnt happen as often as most qbs. what will hurt leak is his inconsistency. whatever the problem is should be helped with a good qb coach in the nfl and he definitely has a shot, but Troy Smith has more upside while Leak seems to be average at best. Smith has a better chance at starting 3-4 yrs from now than leak, but leak has an outside shot. he wont win the job in training camp, but he can definitely put a nice string of games together if the starter goes down for whoever drafts him. I think the cowboys should take a DE or Safety. Newman is getting pretty good and roy williams is a nightmare for anyone. giving him help on the other side of the field can make the secondary awefully scary, or a DE can help greatly too. Romo is a very good surprise, T.O. had a bad yr (which is still about 1100-1300 yrds and 11 tds) or something like that. so theyre fine passing on offense and jones can be good if healthy and if the line blocks well. there might not be a good lineman on the board though. so jones is good, marion can score tds, and the o-line is decent enough and a 1st rounder wont improve that department. a DE such as anderson or adams would be great, but they wont fall that far. I say they should take paul posluszny from penn state and try him out at end and/or linebacker. However, as great as a rush would be, i’d like to see them solidy the secondary with a safety to compliment roy williams. assuming reggie nelson and laron landry dont fall that far, they MIGHT just take michael griffin out of Texas. He is fast enough to play FS and is a decent hitter. He isn’t Michael Huff, but the cowboys could use griffin. another possibility to me is a corner from the same school as griffin, aaron ross. Daymeion Hughes is a smart player and we was the Pac 10 defensive player of the year. He could be a nice compliment to newman. The cowboys need a safety, but a corner could be nice or else the #2 corner (think its glenn or henry or someone like that) might become what fred thomas was to the saints. anyways thats my prediction. i’m a jets fan. i think they should take troy smith in the 2nd round if he falls far enough, because pennington can get hurt anytime and he’d be a good backup and possibly assume the starting role, but in the 1st round im hoping they grab a DE to make up for the loss of abraham last year.
well defensive end is probably the only position on the team that they do not need to worry about…demarcus ware, 3rd year..marcus spears, 3rd year…greg ellis, plays OLB but can be down as well, he is getting old though…and chris canty and jason hatcher are real good they just have not had as much playing time. but i hope the cowboys take a QB somewhere in the draft cus tony romo will get hurt and there is no one to back him up..iv been looking and reading on some stuff and i saw somethin that said anthony henry might move to free safety.
cowboys need a safety or corner… bledsoe isnt much of a starter anymore but hes a hell of a backup… if romo goes down bledsoe can be decent… the real focus needs to be the free safety position b/c roy williams can take more risks with an elite partnet at safety or even another corner
who do ya think da raiderz shood take wit der first pik?
id like to see the raiders take calvin johnson if they choose to ship moss or porter… but the more logical pick would be jamarcus russell. Al Davis likes the strong arm and quinn’s is great while russell’s is unprecedented. raiders should take russell or trade down the pick to get more help (which they need lots of), but if they like russell enough theres nobody more worthy at the #1 spot with a team needing a qb
Al Davis and our staff been very impressed by 4 players in particular: Calvin Johnson, Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn and Joe Thomas. Johnson, Quinn and Thomas all have some of the best work ethics around. CJ and JRuss both have world class football bodies with their size speed and strength. We are in a difficult situation though, and we’ve been contemplating whether we want to build our franchise around one of these two QBs or go with one of the best WR prospects in history. We are also very open to listening to any trade offers for the #1 pick so long as we remain with a top pick (say #3 clevland). With a situation like this we can go for quantity AND quality at the same time. From now on the standards of our Raiders franchise will be raised and the winning will start now.
I think with Brooks gone, its pretty clear Oakland will pick a QB to start rebuilding. Jamarcus Russell has the physical ability you look for when looking for a QB. But I think what they do in the later rounds will be very important. A running back or an offensive lineman must be addressed. If they can get a good one in the 2nd or 3rd round it will help Russell and one of the worst offenses Ive ever seen. Who do you think they should get in the 2nd and 3rd round?
what do you guys think about jeff samardzija? do you think he made the right choice to choose baseball over football? do you think he will be a decent pitcher in the MLB rather than a great wide reciever in the NFL? tell me what you guys think of him because he was my favorite coming into this draft.
jeff “the shark” samardzija was my favorite coming into the draft this year. what do you guys think about him choosing baseball over football? do you think he would of been a better pitcher in the MLB than a wide reciever in the NFL?
yeah samardzija might have been a great WR, but he has a better shot in baseball in terms of dominance. he has a great fastball from what i hear, but in football he wouldve made a nice 2nd option or slot receiver. He might have good NFL numbers had he opted for that option, but he wouldve been a good receiever at best. hopefully he does something in baseball. he will also make a better baseball player than football cuz thats where his heart is. it would be hard to play football with the thought of what couldve been in baseball on his mind.
What NFL team that didnt make the playoffs this year, has the best shot for next year?
I like the Packers chances at the playoffs this year They finished 8-8 last year and finished on a 4 game win streak. We have basically the same team coming back, which was one of the youngest in the league last year. Favre is returning. The O-line which consisted of 3 different roookies were horrible to start last year and then they started to gel by the end of the year. Driver who has been the most consistent and durable WR in the last few years and Greg Jennings who was along with Colston one of the best rookie WR until he had injuries that slowed him are back. Also, Koren Robinson returns after being suspended. The defense also was young. Kampman, the NFC sack leader anchors the line. Hawk and Barnett are great playmakers and the CWood/Al Harris CB duo is one the leagues best. They are also almost guaranteed 4 division wins in the north against detroit and minnesota. In the draft they will most likely draft Marshawn Lynch and hell team up with free agent ahman green in the backfield. The DT and S positions will be adressed and unless they get a reasonable deal for Randy Moss, which is unlikely, theyll need another playmaker especially at TE or maybe WR. A 10 or 9 win season is reasonable for this team. Obviously Carolina is gonna have a chance at a playoff spot as always and in the AFC Cincy Denver and Pitt have enough talent to be playoff teams and you can’t overlook Vince and the Titans.
I agree with Sean somewhat… the Packers looked good at the end of the season, but they have needs to address. Safety is a major need but since they did go 8-8, they dont have a high enough draft pick for a laron landry or reggie nelson. It would have been better to lose a couple more games, but thats not the way Brett Favre plays. With Favre back, this team always has a chance. I think marshawn lynch makes a great fit for teams like GB and the Jets. If GB decides to toughen up the defense in round 1, there are big powerful backs projected to be in the 2nd/3rd round. Tennessee looked scary with Vince Young in the lineup. They kept beating teams they weren’t supposed to beat, but thats why they play the game. Sean’s packers and my jets didn’t look too good on paper but look at the year they each had. I think the most likely teams to make the playoffs who didnt in 06-07 are:
(in no particular order)
Packers
Broncos
Jaguars
Bengals
Panthers
Sleeper Picks:
Rams (Can the D step up?)
Redskins (Tough NFC East, loads of talent, chemistry will be key)
49ers (Can they get a legit passing attack?)
Falcons (All eyes on Vick)
I really like the Jaguars. Their running game is very impressive and the defense is one of the league’s finest. They have raw but talented receivers and Mercedes Lewis looks to be a decent option. The qb situation is still a bit confusing. Personally, I think Gerrard is the better qb, but the organization loves Leftwich for whatever reason. Jaguars to me have the best chance to make it to the playoffs. They play tough enough to beat the Colts maybe once next year and they are capable of putting a string of games together.
As a Jets fan, I’ve reconsidered who I want them to take. If Greg Olsen is still available, I’d LOVE for him to be a Jet. He has great speed for a TE and Pennington and the offense take their gains piece by piece. I’d love Lynch Olsen or someone who slips to a later round.
Would you guys want Olsen on your team? Who do you think should take him and how soon does he deserve to come off the board?
the browns rule there going to win the super bowl
Cleveland will be better this year, but I still dont think they will be a playoff team yet. I think they could get 7 or 8 wins. Depending on how they do in the draft. There division still has Baltimore, Cinncinati, and Pittsburg, unfortunately for them.
I think Olsen will possibly go to Buffalo, Cincinatti, or even Chicago.
As for the playoffs next year I think San Fran has a good shot, they play in won of the easier conferences, They have been steadily improving, I believe they will have another great offseason, and they finished off last year on a good note.
The Browns are going nowhere. The division winner most likely to slip for me would be the seahawks. The rams and 49ers have closed the gap quite nicely. As a jet fan, I’d like to say theyll win the division, which theyre talented enough to do, but as long as brady remains in NE idk if we’ll do it for a few years. The eagles may slip because there is no insurance for mcnabb if he goes down and the giants and cowboys will always be challenging, not to mention the Redskins who are loaded with talent but cant win games lately.

Carolina/2nd place in NFC WEST or Green Bay.
I don’t get the Tatum Bell trade for Dre Bly. The Broncos really got the best of this deal. Lions keep taking the wrong step in the wrong direction.
Jerry Porter and Joe Horn were also released. Things aren’t making much sense around the NFL today but the free agency period looks to be exciting.
As for Olsen, teams would have even more nightmares if he went to Cinci. 2 great receivers and a very good 3rd combined with a TE with freakish athleticism would be too much to handle.
The browns are terrible and they need a lot more help than just from the draft. They need about 4 to 5 years to develop and hope they can get a decent QB but as of now they dont have a gamebreakers but they have a couple potential playmakers - edwards and winslow - but as youve seen in places like oakland detroit and arizona, without a good QB and a decent O Line you cant have an explosive offense regardless of how many great recievers you have.
I think Olsen is gonna be a solid playmaker in the nfl. Look at the track records of Miami TEs in the past 10 years. Winslow looks like he’ll turn out to be the type of player he should be with all the talent he has shown after the injuries. Shockey has continued to catch TDs and has been one of the best TE in the league despite the fact that he pushes off almost every time. And even Bubba, who has been awful the last 2 years, started his career as a top TE in the NFC. I expect Olsen to continue this trend. As was seen in the combine, he is definitely a top athlete in the draft and he still put up good numbers considering the fact that he had two fantastic QBs like kyle wright and kirby freeman throwing the ball. He has a good shot of going to Carolina and i dont see him getting past Cincy.
I got a early XLII pick - Dallas Wade Phillips is gonna improve the talented defense and im looking for a much more consistent offense than the one this past year now that romo has some experience under his belt. In the draft theyll go after a saftey, either merriwether or michael griffin.
Dallas was one of the most dissapointing teams, last year. With all the talent they had they should have at least gotten past the first playoff round.
NY Jets and San Fran are 2 teams that finshed off last year strong and have the most room for improvement this year. With all the free agents and the talent in the draft they should be able to get exactly what they need.
Heres my picks for next year:
NFC
SF 49ers
NO Saints
D Cowboys
GB Packers
AFC
D Broncos or SD Chargers(Too early to tell)
I Colts or T Titans(Too early to tell)
NY Jets
C Bengals(If they can stay out of jail)
or B Ravens
good point with the bengals, palmer will stay out of jail but we dont know about the others… dallas is a legitimate playoff team but they have to play with good chemistry. honestly, i think they should trade t.o. for a high draft pick and get a sidney rice or other receiver early enough in the draft. However, that would be all theyd receive in return for T.O, because… its T.O we’re talking about. T.O. had what most receivers would call a great, almost career year, but his expectations made it a sluggish year. I have my division winners and wild cards somewhat predicted, but as for the super bowl teams, I think it will be Indy repeating but against the Saints. The Saints have a MVP-quality qb in brees and their runningbacks make an awesome 1-2 punch. The line was iffy but they can improve and the receiving corps did nice. They released Joe Horn the other day, but Colston was a nice surprise and they have other speedy recievers. We’ll just have to see how Colston plays while every team will have a gameplan for him, but I still think with improved defense they can make it. If the Saints were in the AFC, they make it to the playoffs as a wild card at worst, but they would only go a round or 2. Indy will play the Saints in my eyes, but I know it is also very unlikely because every year there are surprise stories (6th seed Steelers winning XL, first to do so and on the road the whole journey).
Regardless, I like Indy to repeat. Manning is simply too great and the defense will only get better with Sanders in there. Indy blows their competition next year, for reasons other than them just winning the big game
This WR class is extremely deep and i think dallas is gonna keep TO but they still need another quality WR to go along with TO glenn and witten. Theyre going to get a WR in the draft. I think they almost have to get a saftey in the first rd but if they decide that they like a player like Bowe from LSU who has looked amazing or Meachem. If tthey go for one in the 2nd rd then Gonzalez from OSU or Craig Davis, another LSU guy wholl be able to outrun the majority of CBs in the league.
I think the colts are gonna be back just as good as last year. All you ever hear about now is how thge super bowl teams just fall apart the next year, but like daniel said, Peyton and their D is too good n manning isnt gonna let his team lose just as brady never let the pats falter the year after their championships.
I think Terry Glenn is that other receiver youre talking about, because at times he looked better than T.O. However, they could grab another receiver because T.O. is getting older and nobody knows if he will live out his contract in Dallas. I think they kind of have to get a safety too. No O-Lineman is available at that point who is worthy of that pick and theyd be better off waiting til the 2nd round. There is also as deep a DB class as WR this year. An Aaron Ross or Daymeion Hughes could be a huge help because after Newman, there is only an average at best corner opposite him and they weren’;t able to land nate clements in FA yesterday.
The Bucs signed Jeff Garcia. Any thoughts on this? This automatically makes them 3 games better in my opinion and with some luck they could be in the playoffs. Gruden has coached a team to a superbowl, the defense is aging but is still capable with players like Brooks, Simeon Rice, and R. Barber. Cadillac is young and can carry the load and they DO have the 3rd overall pick in this draft. If Oakland doesn’t get Calvin Johnson, Detroit MAY grab them because they have proven theyre dumb enough to draft at the same position every year. However, I’m hoping theyve learned from their many mistakes. That leaves them likely choosing Thomas or any other player they like. Being that over a 3 yr span each 1st round pick was a WR means this draft shouldnt follow that pattern, hopefully. The Bucs would NEVER pass on williams. Clayton was great his rookie year but hasn’t shown what he once was capable of, but he may be a dangerous 2nd option. Johnson is a physical freak and being that Garcia just signed on could mean that they will try getting him better targets to throw to. Overall, I’ll add this team to my SLEEPERS for 07-08. Garcia is a winner and the Defense is still in the upper half of the nfl. This team could be looking at 8-8 or 9-7, with an outside chance of cracking the playoffs as a wildcard. The one thing that may keep them from this is the division. Carolina plays much better than their record shows and the Falcons are a bit better than their record showed too. New Orleans will only get better so its fitting the Bucs are getting better too. This may be the toughest division in terms of overall talent, because the bucs DO have some. We’ll see what happens. But theyre definitely sleepers
Hopefully the cowboys will sign or draft a decent backup QB because now that bledsoe is gone the cowboys have no one to back up Romo and he will definently need a back up because he will struggle from time to time. the cowboys might even find a QB that is better than Romo. i would like plummer come out of retirement and play for the boys. i love his style of play. how bill parcells though. will he be the next john madden in the booth?

Jeff Garcia to Tampa Bay is great for Garcia he should be able to get the starting job he wants and despite his age hes still gonna give tampa bay a new dimension at QB. I just feel sorry for Tim Rattay hes been Jeff Garcia’s back up before in San Fran. Speaking of San Fran, they picked up Nate Clements and Michael Lewis. Looks like they fixed their secondary. Now they can beef of their D-line or get another target for Alex Smith. How good do you all think they could be?
I had the 49ers as sleepers before free agency and now theyve confirmed my confidence in them to possibly squeak into the playoffs. Interesting that Lutrell’s mock had Jarrett going to Dallas. I live in southern california and everyone in the nfl is knocking him because he isn’t fast enough, but ill tell you he is so tall and physical that you wont care if he runs a 4.6 or a 4.4 He has the most clutch hands ive seen in a long time. Leinart audibled on 4th and 10 vs notre dame and who caught his pass? Dwayne Jarrett. Jarrett dominated Michigan and had great games against Oregon, Cal, and Notre Dame, all in a row. I happened to see him in person against Washington, Oregon, and Cal this year as well as Arizona last year. I don’t care what anybody says about speed for receivers. Jarrett is good enough at route running but almost NEVER drops passes. If Lutrell thinks Jarrett will go to the Cowboys because he just likes him, then at least somebody appreciates this 6′5 AMAZING receiver. Compare him to Mike Williams. Tall, not blazing fast, clutch hands. What’s the difference? Jarrett played 3 yrs in college and didn’t have a heisman winner throwing to him throughout his USC career. Williams had Palmer and Leinart. Jarrett had Leinart and Booty, who is inconsistent but has some flashes of brilliance. Jarrett didn’t sit out a year from football. Anyone think sitting a year out from football could’ve affected Mike Williams? OF COURSE it did. Ted Ginn, he has LOTS of talent. He is fast and extremely explosive. How clutch is he? Are his hands better than Jarrett’s? Is he a project? YES he is. He doesn’t run very good routes but he has track speed. Jarrett isn’t a track star but a hell of a football player. Besides, isn’t catching the ball the most important thing for a receiver? I’ll end this by saying I’d much rather have a guy on my team who almost never drops a pass even though he won’t outrun anybody than have a player less NFL ready who can outrun defenders. Not to mention, Ginn is 6′ or maybe under, I haven’t looked closely enough, but Jarrett is 6′5-6′4. Not only is he a big target, he CATCHES the ball. I want a qb who can’t run but can throw, a receiver with decent enough speed but can catch anything thrown his way, a runningback who hits the hole rather than jukes by defenders (although reggie is awesome), a linebacker who can wrap up even if hes slow, and basically i want football players on a football team, not track stars or workout warriors. Idk how you guys feel, but Jarrett is a steal if he falls to the middle of the first round. I’d love for him to be a Jet but I think he deserves to go higher and probably will. Jarrett SHOULD be a top 10 pick, and I guarantee he will play like one no matter who drafts him. He’s a great receiver and is a huge red-zone threat.
breaking news!
thomas jones, rb of the bears, is now a jet. 2nd round draft picks were involved. I would like Marshawn Lynch BUT thomas jones is a very good back. I couldn’t be happier. Yes theres better runningbacks, but a workhorse like jones is the perfect fit for the Jets and we can probably look for a receiver, TE, or defensive player in the draft. I’d like Jarret if he falls, but Meachem would be fine, or I’d like Olsen if available. If not, they can grab a DE to compensate the loss of Abraham a year ago. I am VERY happy with the jets right now. Manginius has them headed in the right direction and i feel the one thing that hurt us in the playoffs was our running game. I’m hoping the reports of Randy going to the Patriots are false. Randy can be a real snob at times but he can also be incredibly dominant in others. However, I think we closed the gap on NE a bit. One runningback wont improve us drastically, but it certainly helps and i have a good feeling we will do something great in the draft and the rest of FA or something in a trade.
J-E-T-S
JETS JETS JETS
Troy Smith is an easy first round top 10 pick its a buncha bs about all the crap about 2nd round… he’s amazing
hey lutrell… bledsoe was a good backup, but the cowboys just signed brad johnson. not only is he a solid backup, but he was an ok starter and he has led his team to the superbowl in his better days.
Yeah, Theres alot of depth in the draft at wideout this year and the free agent pool has plenty too.
I think Brady Quinn will end up in Minnesota.
yea i liked that the cowboys sign ed brad johnson. i know he is getting old but he will definently be a hell of a back up QB. i had jarrett going to dallas because i know jarrett will be an excellent nfl receiver. he will be a good comparison to andre johnson from the texans. Quinn to the Vikes would be nice. id like to see how he does there but he will need more play making receivers to throw to. to erik: troy smith will be nothing more than a back up QB in the nfl. i dont hate him or nothin i just think that he wont succeed as a NFL QB.
Yeah, i wouldn’t be surprised if troy smith succeeded, but it would take an extremely long road for him to reach that. I mean, what chance did Tom Brady have coming out of college? BUT jarrett is somewhat like andre johnson, except Jarretts a little slower. Jarrett is tall and catches everything thrown to him which is what the WR position is about. I don’t think the cowboys will take him though. They have T.O. (even if his futures uncertain) and terry glenn is a great #2 receiver in this league. They really need a corner or a safety opposite of roy williams.
Anyways Thomas Jones was a steal for MY new york jets, and all we need is a corner or TE in the draft. Can’t wait to see what happens…
I Wanna say that detroit is gonna be amazing this year this is definitely one of the worst draft classes ive ever seen and there arnt any franchise players. i donk know why ppl like calvin johnson russel quinn and peterson so much. I would love to see my lions trade for randy moss. This is the kinda offense where he would thrive with my man roy williams opposite him. He would be worth trading the 2nd pick for. We gotta get him hes the best reciever in the game even tho he had a couple subpar years in oaktown which sucks and the black hole can kiss my black ass.
Problem is… Randy Moss doesn’t play qb. I have no idea what the lions are thinking when they might grab a WR or OL. They need a qb BADLY.
Cleveland reportedly wants Jamal Lewis and it is rumored they will probably have him. This should change many mock drafts, if it does indeed happen. Adrian Peterson might fall further if this does go down. Lots of things have happened lately and should be interesting to watch. All these stupid Randy Moss comments are dumb though, he isnt going anywhere and if he does, it won’t be as big a deal as we all think. Randy is too big a distraction and doesn’t give a great effort every game.
do the New York football giants have any chance of picking up home town hero Brian Leonard in the 2nd round or even later. Cuz that would be great
brian leonard is the best fullback in the draft and he might even switch into a running back in the nfl because of his speed and size. i would LOVE to see the cowboys take him in the second round or maybe even the first if they get who they need in free agency. and to the dude MOTOWN…im guessin you didnt watch ANY college football this past year. calvin johnson WILL BE, hands down, the best rookie next year.
maybe the packers will select adrian perterson. Browns got jamal lewis, houston got ahman green, tampa bay got carnell williams, oakland is picking calvin johnson or russel, detriot has kevin jones, and the other invested big money in running backs last year. If the bills pass of adrian peterson, then do you think the packers will have a chance of getting him
The raiders are trying to get rid of Moss because they want Calvin Johnson in the draft. The Browns will still take RB Peterson and run the two back system. Texans will take Levi Brown.
I don’t think the Packers take peterson. That’s a hell of a drop for a high-profile runningback. McGahee is now a Raven. Too many franchise players are being moved. I think the packers could use a receiver opposite Driver or maybe Greg Olsen, TE from Miami. Good fit, just depends on what the packers want. They could also use a safety. Lots of things to fix considering they were a .500 team. They outplayed their talent, but that’s why they play the game. You can’t crown a champion on paper. Packers should finish around 7-9/8-8 like they did last year.
Daniel you are a retard. Are you serious? Peterson is the 5th best rb in the draft behind 1bush 2walker 3lynch and 4leonard. Hes gonna drop to the end of the 1st rd and possibly inhto the 2nd rd. Driver is one of the best recievers in the league behind maybe steve smith and tj houshmanzadeh .Olsen is a complete homo! The pack underacheived last year at 500 and they are going to win at lest 12 games this year.
The Pack overachieved if anything. That’s with my Jets too. We have a good team this year, but last year it was just ok and probably wasnt playoff worthy, but we did it. I doubt the packers will win 12 games. They have to play the Bears twice a year and they don’t have enough to overcome them. They are very capable of beating the Vikings and Lions, who need lots of help. Other than the Bears, the Pack stands a good chance in the division, but I see a lack of talent. Peterson was the heisman runner up as a freshman and still put up good numbers being injured throughout college. His durability is the only concern. He’s fast and powerful, and he had to play after Jason White and the other college stars on OU left, so teams could just gameplan for him solely. Peterson won’t slip anywhere past the top 10, and I’d say hes a lock for a top 5 but not after all the runningback moves this offseason thus far. The Packers have no TE. Bubba blocks most of the time and isn’t a good threat receiving-wise. Olsen would be a good fit for you guys, but you can have Mike Bush if you want. Bush is a 2nd rounder probably, and I like his power but he doesn’t have breakaway speed. I think his power compensates nicely for that, we just have to see if he can be the same player he was before the broken leg. Do you watch football? Driver is definitely talented but he can’t be mentioned with guys like Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Terrel Owens, etc. TJ Houshmandzedah is very good but he isn’t in the elite class. Olsen ran a 4.5 and he had a great Miami career. Favre would have a great weapon in him, but apparently you don’t watch college sports either. The Pack do need a runningback, but if youre looking for them to take Bush, it’ll be somewhere in the 2nd round. Either that, or youll take Marshawn Lynch in the 1st, and I saw him against USC in person and he looked very good.
Packers MIGHT pull it off, but so might 31 other teams. Packers can’t win the division with the Bears in there. When I say can’t, I mean that its highly unlikely. If you watch college football, youd know Adrian Peterson is worth the boom-or-bust selection. He won’t fall any further than the 8th pick (Texans) Peterson might suck at the next level, but he also has the chance to be a one of a kind back as well
dude. i think ricky williams should smoke more pot and win mvp. hes the sheezy
all of yall are idiots and dont know anything about the draft or football. probably even sports. i GAURENTEE i know wayyy more than anybody here.

Or Any other team, What are your thoughts?
sports is 90% opinion. We all think we know who helped themselves out and will win the most games next year but nobody knows for sure. I know quite a bit on football though.
in response to most improved team, I’d have to say 49ers. Other teams have picked up big-time players and my NY Jets filled a huge need at RB, but in terms of MOST improved, i’d say 49ers. Not only have they filled various holes, but teams such as the jets and ravens or patriots couldnt improve much because they were really good before their signings. The other bottom teams have lots of room to improve but their signings havent justified a most improved mention. The Broncos also did a lot to improve, so they may be most improved. They were the best team in my opinion to miss the playoffs last year. I put them ahead of tennessee, gb, the bengals (cinci d cant play well) and the broncos now have 2 great corners and a proven runningback in that system famous for producing 1000 yard rushers.
49ers get my vote for most improved team this offseason thus far because they had a lot to improve and they have done a nice job filling some of those gaps. Overall, I think they will challenge in the NFC West and may make the playoffs if smith can step up. If smith makes the same progress this year as he did from 05-06 to 06-07, he should look really good. He did nothing as a rookie and showed great progress this year. I said it before this offseason that I thought the 49ers could challenge in the NFC, and now my high opinion of them is better justified.
P.S. Peterson is gonna be the first back taken, sorry to contradict you tyrelle, but anyone who follows the nfl knows that Peterson is a rare talent and will be taken as the 1st RB. He’s not a reggie bush, but nobody is. He will still have a good chance of being something great in his own way.
the 2 teams i look at in this draft are the Lions and Eagles but starting with Detroit they have alot of holes to fill o line and quarterback are the two biggest with the second pick they should take joe thomas if you add him with Damion Woddy at right guard and George Foster at right tackle they could have a good thing brewin on the oline second round it should be the man who i say is the second not third best qb in the draft Drew Staton hes the second best because brady quinn will be a bust and Staton has great mobility i think he will be a great NFL player 3rd round Samson Satele center from Hawaii this will make them have a good o line then to the Eagles i see four guys where they cant go wrong in the 1st round Dwayne Bowe Paul Posluszny Lawrence Timmons or Reggie Nelson would be great in that organization in the 2nd round i think they should trade up to get Lamarr W oodley from Michigan despite hating him his whol college career I think he will be a solid pro and third round if they dont get a linebacker to start off rufus alexander from oklahoma thats what they should do
the cowboys will have the best draft and the cowboys will win the super bowl this comin football season
exactly! i didnt think anyone would say anything to that
The Cowboys are not a good football team, they have the talent dont get me wrong, but theyre not a team. If they come together under their new coach then maybe they will have a shot, but its still a long shot.
As for most improved teams I think San Fran, Denver and New England are in that category so far. The draft will affect the most improved teams overall in this offseason though.
no way in hell griffin in the 2nd are u crnuts?
griffin will definently be a low 1st round to a top 2nd round draft pick.
Who will be the best rookie linebacker this upcoming football season?
Paul Poslunzny-OLB Penn State
Patrick Willis-MLB Ole Miss
Lawrence Timmons-OLB FSU
Jon Beason-OLB Miami (FL)
Buster Davis-MLB FSU
David Harris-MLB Michigan
Earl Everett-OLB Florida
Juwan Simpson-OLB Alabama
Brandon Siler-MLB Florida
H.B. Blades-MLB Pittsburgh
you never know, who thought demeco ryans would be defensive rookie of the year, let alone PLAYER??? Cowboys will improve and they are talented, but I don’t see them winning the big game. I have a feeling Romo will have an OK year just like Rothlisberger did in his 2nd year as starter.
For college, what team do you guys think lost the most talent?
Being a USC fan, we’ve lost Dallas Sartz and Dwayne Jarrett. Other than that, just about our entire team is coming back. After next year, things might be tougher. For me, teams like LSU and Florida lost lots of good talent, although Florida looks promising next year while LSU might have more difficulty replacing their players.
Any predictions for the #1 pick of 08? I know its way too early to know, but if he comes out, McFadden can be a hell of a player in the NFL. It also depends on what the needs are for the team selecting first, but McFadden is a rare talent among the ranks of Reggie Bush and Adrian Peterson. We’ll see how things pan out.
you made a point about demeco ryans and me being an alabama fan i was very very disappointed he did not make the probowl because he definently deserved it. and you are right about mcfadden. he will be a great running back in the nfl. as for what college lost the most players id have to say LSU. florida did too but florida has had the best signing class the past couple years. as for who will be first in the 08 draft. i think that if colt brennan has another excellent year he will be the number one pick. he is not very big but he has the skills to be a QB in the NFL. what do yall think about that?

I like that you have Steve Smith of USC in the 1st round. Nobody mentions him, but he put up rediculous numbers in the absence of dewayne jarrett. Keep in mind, that allows teams to focus most of their attention to Smith, but it didnt always work. Patrick Turner will be great next year and im sure USC will find another reliable receiver, not to mention Fred Davis at TE who is much better than Dominique Byrd ever was (and Byrd was pretty solid in college). Smith is very average in terms of speed and athleticism, and he is as short at the Steve Smith currently in the NFL but in terms of catching the ball which is the #1 job of receivers, Smith was one of the most clutch at the college level and hopefully it carries on to the nfl.
As for Colt Brennan, he backed up Matt Leinart for most of high school, just thought id point that out. They went to Mater Dei out here in CA. Brennan has the numbers, but I’m not so sure he will be the number one pick. I’m not just saying this cuz i love USC, because i was mad at the way he played plenty of times, but Booty had as good a year as Leinart had when he was in his first year of starting. Booty is bigger than Brennan, and nfl scouts love to tear up prospects and find any imaginable flaw, especially at the QB position. For example, you have Hughes going to my fav. Jets, but on ESPN they say he may slip to the 3rd-5th rounds because of his workouts. Troy Smith is being knocked for his lack of height, but there are plenty of QBs who have succeeded at a short height. I think Steve Smith is a real sleeper though, and he would be a great complement to Javon Walker in Denver as you have him fitting because he was used to being the 2nd option at USC although he was capable of being a #1.
I think USC will win the national title. Not cuz I like them, but because they were good enough to win it last year and now that they have another year of experience under most of the team’s belt, they should be really dangerous, even without Jarrett and Smith because Patrick Turner will be a 1st rounder if he leaves next year and USC has its ways of bringing new guys in. Not to mention, our D is fast and fierce and they have had a full year to build some chemistry. It also doesnt hurt when your coach is a genius (and a former Jet coach…even if he didnt succeed)
Anyways, I think USC wins in college football and their challenger will be Michigan. I like Florida, but Michigan has Hart and Henne returning and Mario Manningham was good before getting hurt. They lost plenty of defensive talent, but being Michigan theyll replace them. It should be a rose bowl rematch. USC will have their passing game and the running game will definitely improve as I feel CJ Gable has separated himself a bit from the other backs. Watching him in person, he especially impressed me at the Cal game.
FIGHT ON USC!!!
USC vs. Michigan next year in the NC. Its possible but teams like Ohio State who’s 9 defensive staerters now have a year of experience and Chris wells at RB. Also Texas, whos QB McCoy now has a year of experience. Plus Louisville, with QB Brohm returning, West Virginia with White and Slaton, and Rutgers with there good RB returning. Also Florida with Tebow at QB. Theres gonna be alot of other teams who could make it to the NC. Also Oregon and Oregon state will be tuff in the Pac-10. Too early to tell.
I like Ohio state vs. West Virginia in NC.
I think Ohio State loses a game or 2 next year, so if its another year like the one we just had, they can get in as a 1-loss team. I really think Michigan beats the Buckeyes this time around. Michigan has its star QB and star RB returning and they have pretty athletic receivers. The defense is the real question but with their program, theyll make up for the loss of players like Ohio State did last year. Ohio State lost all but 2 starters on defense or something like that, and they still did fine, just as I see Michigan doing this year. As for USC, I think the offense will be just as good as last year with Booty having a year as the starter under his belt, not to mention our O-Line is one of the best in the country and our improving RBs will have even more room to make plays. Gable is like a Reggie Bush with slightly less quickness and makes less instinctive plays, but how many people are as good as reggie? Not to mention, Gable was just a true freshman last year. On defense, we were good, but at the end of the season we became great. Our D-Line is getting better and our secondary wont be as bad as last season. The linebackers are the real strength of our defense. Florida lost a lot but supposedly gained a lot also with an impressive recruiting class, but SC was ranked high among the elite classes again this year. After Booty, we’ll have Sanchez and i saw him in person in the CIFs down here in CA. He went to Mission Viejo and the game was played at Angel Stadium where he whooped my school’s team but he was national player of the year in HS and he has learned under Leinart for a year and now Booty this last year. Floridas a maybe, Arkansas is good with McFadden and the D will be ok but USC dismantled them last season and Mitch Mustain sucked for the razorbacks so hes gone and the new starter wont have any experience. Texas might be a popular pick, but its all on McCoy. The defense is losing Griffin at safety but the D should be solid still. I dont think they have enough though, not over USC anyways. Then again theres no playoff system so Texas could beat the teams they have in front of them. Louisville lost Bush and Brohm is good, but how good are they overall? Big East title, maybe… but if they did so then WVU couldnt be in the national title game. Rutgers has rice returning, but cinderellas wont win the NC. Rutgers may challenge in the east again but they dont have as big a reputation with the voters as do the bigger name programs.
Tebow has no experience, and we’ll have to see if they use him as a sub package contributor or a full-time QB. Oregon may be tough, but they dont seem to have any overwhelming talent and USC handled them easily last season, a game which i attended and USC is only gonna be better than last year. Oregon State is a bowl team but they pose to threat in NC talks. They beat SC by batting down a 2 point conversion, but beating USC 2 years in a row isnt easy and they might not catch USC on a bad day again. Plus, Booty didnt step up in that game til the end of the game. While it is too early to tell, i think USC and Michigan will have a rematch for the title this time around and both have the best shots of making it in my opinion. I wont predict who would win that matchup because that would be a very hyped game and could be the new game of the century if everything plays out. Although USC vs Texas is hard to beat in terms of how much a classic it was.
Another prediction, no Big East team will make it to the NC, but 1 or even 2 might make it to the BCS. What do you guys think of Boise State? That was the best bowl game of the year and one of the best i have ever seen or even heard of. Im not so sure they can make it to the bcs again but you just never know. They lost Zabransky so we’ll see how they replace him.
If detroit get joe thomas I will not watch them anymore they need brady quinn. What do you say about that?
The Lions need Brady Quinn more than Brady needs the Lions. This isn’t a perfect match as last year’s draft. The Cardinals had Leinart fall to them at #10 and got the qb they desperately needed for the future. In return, Leinart got into a system with 2 pro bowl WRs in Boldin and Fitzgerald and Edgerrin James can be good when he has a half-decent O-Line. Joe Thomas would be ideal for the Cardinals. The Lions improved the running game by acquiring Tatum Bell to complement Jones, and George Foster is a solid short-term solution. The Lions screwed themselves over by taking so many WRs the last few years because now Calvin Johnson is considered a no-miss pick. The Lions should try to trade down to get extra picks and to get someone they actually need worthy of their pick. Thomas would help them but it wouldnt put fans in the seats. I think Quinn would be ruined if he was in Detroit. That franchise just doesn’t know how to win, even when Barry Sanders played. I do think it is likely they will take Quinn, but theyve got to make serious improvements elsewhere to even consider being on the wild card bubble.
My prediction for them:
Top 5-10 pick next draft because of a 2 game improvement. If selected, Quinn or Russell will be the starting qb either from the start or before the season is even half way over.
Lions need a few years to build. They can’t rebuild because theyve had nothing to lose. They cant get much worse so theres no rebuilding when they never built anything in the first place. Hopefully they surprise us, but that is hard to do with Chicago in the division and the improving Green Bay.
Anyone sick of hearing how the Cardinals are the sleepers for the next season? For the past 2-3 years, everyone likes Arizona to upset the football world and they have done nothing but gain top 10 picks those years. They are going in the right direction with Leinart but theyre afraid to go away from skill position players. They MUST take an OL and then adress the defensive side any way they can. If they are picked to be sleepers by these “experts” again this year, I might have to scream. I think the Cardinals finish 6-10, 7-9 next year.
I agree AZ is getting better, but they arent good enough to win their division. Not with San Fran getting better, every year. Seattle, still decent, and St. Louis should improve in this draft also. I think they should draft Gaines Adams like most people predict, since J. Thomas will be off the board. Or they could trade down and get Levi Brown to help out there O-line and maybe get some good defensive players the rest of the draft.
Detroit needs alot of help, they havent done much this off season so far, Tatum Bell, is an improvement, but now with Bly gone, there defense is even worse. They need a great QB who they are willing to stick with for a while, they need to strengthen their Line on both sides of the ball, as well as their defense in overall. I think they will pick Brady 1st Rd. However, picking J. Thomas, and then someone like D. Stanton, Zabranksy. or even Troy Smith later in the draft, wouldnt hurt. This way there O-line would be better, they would have a good QB to share time with Kitna and get ready to start next year. Then the rest of the draft they could concentrate on Defense.
What does everyone else think? Anyone wanna hear what I think there team should do?
ur nuts luttrel packers r going to pick a saffty or tightend. i personally would hope luandry could be a possilbe option.they will pick up running back in free agency.also it would be amazing if brady quin got drop down to the 3 pick let alone #7 ur nuts no way. also calvin jhonson will go before dwyane jarret. any body with eyes could see that plus greg olsen will be picked before #14, he is the man who ran the 4.4 remember
also jamarcus russel was dominent in college. this is the nfl
★James Alder, Is this you? …
!
Russell dominated in college and has the chance to do so in the NFL with his big arm. It isn’t a sure thing but his upside is great.
Olsen will probably slip to 14 because of the players ahead of him and the need of the teams involved. TEs are rarely top 10 picks because most teams do poorly for other reasons such as defense or QB play. Vernon Davis was a freak last year though, and Olsen will probably be great too but not many teams will consider him in the top 10.
Packers will take a Safety or Runningback. They may take Olsen if available or Zach Miller but there aren’t any worthy free agents on the market anymore. They do need serious help at safety, so they can go that way by trading up or hoping Landry/Nelson fall to them or can take Marshawn Lynch, who is probably better than the best free agent RB at this point. They could then trade up and take Griffin from Texas or even Merriweather. Both figure to be late 1st-early 2nd round picks and giving up quantity to get quality may not be so bad for an 8-8 football team. The Packers MUST improve through the draft to have any shot at beating the Bears out for the division crown. Brady Quinn probably will go to the Lions or Browns but you never know. He shouldn’t slip out of the top 10 and can be a top 5 pick if he slips past the Browns because teams will be looking to trade up (i.e. Vikings if they feel a team before them will take Quinn) Kansas City may also trade up with Green’s aging and future uncertain as well as Huard’s aging. I predict it will be something nobody predicted come draft day. As for the Lions, they are a mess. For Brady’s sake, take Thomas and spare the kid from repeating David Carr’s rookie season of record sacks. The Lions have so many needs it isnt even funny. I’m surprised they arent the ones picking first. Anyways, We’ll see what happens. Until then, Lions suck, Packers need to improve and are capable of doing so, and yes Johnson will go before Jarrett because of his athleticism. In terms of pure hands you cant miss with either player.

As for the Eagles I think they could get Safety Michael Griffin from (UT)in the 1st round.
Falcons traded Schaubb to move up 2 spots in the draft (10th overall to 8th) and a 2nd rounder this year and next year.
However good Schaubb is, we dont know, but anybody thinking the Texans may steal Quinn if available should now think again. Peterson will be gone before the 10th pick and the Texans seem to have the QB they want. They should go after a lineman in my opinion, but being that they passed on reggie to improve their defense tells me theyre going to select a defensive player in the 1st round. They need a TE, but no O-Lineman is worthy at this point until the late 1st or early 2nd rounds and Greg Olsen would be intriguing but they may take Zach Miller later in the draft. Theres also too much talent left. I think theyll take Branch or Okoye to give Mario Williams help on the D-Line. They can use some help at almost every position on defense so look for one of the DTs or LBs to be the pick here. They also may take Landry or Nelson if available, and one of them figures to be. Texans finish 6-10 next season, 7-9,8-8 at best. If they are willing to pass on the closest thing to a sure thing in reggie bush, theyll pass on trading up for Peterson. People forget, when healthy, Domanic Davis is a pretty good all around back. That said, he must stay healthy.
As for your quiz
1 A (calvin johnson is good but wont be taken with moss and porter not being able to be traded)
2 B (the lions havent made a move for any qb and dont need to if they plan on taking quinn. they need to gain some fans back and thomas is a potential franchise tackle but foster is an upgrade for a few years)
3 E (rueben droughns is out, jamal lewis is good but aging quick, and peterson has huge big-play capabilities. If Quinn is passed on, this should be their pick. Johnson would be nice to complement winslow and Edwards though)
4 A (If available, the bucs take johnson to inject life in the offense and give garcia a weapon. Clayton looks like a bust, maybe average, and joey galloway is decent but older. I dont see them taking Thomas, but Adams is a possibility being that the D is getting older, and Rice would be a nice mentor for that position. The pick is Johnson though)
I think Atlanta will take a Def Linemen with the 8th pick unless someone better is there. Probably J. Anderson or A. Branch. They could take Leon Hall but that would be a reach and wouldnt make much since, after trading up. If Landry’s available they,ll take him. Any chance of them taking Quinn if hes there?
Houston I think may take Levi Brown. Although, they need alot so Leon Hall or a Def linemen to help out M. Williams would also be good. A tightend is also possible. But after last year, Im not gonna guess who they will take for sure.
Atlanta will go D-Line or probably safety since landry projects to drop far enough for them. They wont take Quinn. They have shown they have confidence in Vick this past few days and Quinn wouldnt start until quite a few years. Atlanta could use a backup qb, but that can be handled via trade or free agency, or a later round in the draft. Who knows, maybe theyll take Troy Smith with that extra 2nd round pick they have this year? The 8th pick will be a defensive player if the Falcons stay put. Johnson wont drop to them so Vick will have to find playmakers elsewhere.
Falcons take Landry if available, or they take Branch/Okoye
first off i want to start off by saying ROLL TIDE ROLL.. Alabama WILL win the national championship this upcoming football season. but as for the NFL..i see the cowboys beating the Saints in the NFC championship then whooping the Chargers in the superbowl
darwin walker to the bills and kelly holcomb and takeo spikes to the eagles…
if the bears are looking for a way to get rid of disgruntled lance briggs and get something of value in return the redskins are apparently ready to make it happen. The redskins have informed the bears that they would like to deal their first-round pick, no. 6 overall, for the bears’ first-rounder, no. 31 overall, and briggs, who is a two-time pro bowl player.
The Cowboys haven’t taken full advantage of Roy Williams’ talent since Darren Woodson retired three seasons ago. That needs to change immediately. Jerry Jones agrees. Jones signed Ken Hamlin last week for one reason: to help make Williams an impact player again.
– Dallas Morning News
i hope he is a good fit in the cowboys young defense
looks like my last post didnt get on here… but basically i got into detail why alabama wont win the NC and how the cowboys wont win the superbowl…
williams will be an impact player soon enough but overall I’m not sure that they’ll play as well as they look on paper. On paper, they seem to look pretty good year after year but until this past season they havent played up to the hype. We’ll see what they do in the draft but being a cowboys fan, you better hope the bears keep briggs.
having briggs on their team will not make the redskins any better than the cowboys so i am not worried about briggs being with the skins or not. demarcus ware is better than briggs anyways
Washington’s Defense would be much improved if this happens and they could still get a decent pic in the 1st round which I think they should use to get an offense player to help out there young, inexperienced QB’s. I think someone like Brian Leonard from Rutgers would be a good pic, however, there should still be some decent D-linemen available as well and thats another need for Washington.
But I think Philadelphia is the best team in there division then Dallas, New York, and Washington all are pretty close, just depends on their schedules and which team can stay healthy.
Alabama to win NC, I dont think so. Theyre SEC team which means, they have to beat Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn, and Florida. Which I think are all better than Alabama. Alabama might get a bowl game this year, but they wont make it to the SEC Championship and if they do they wont win it. Oh yeah and also they would have to play the best team in the country in the NC and they wouldnt win.

May change after the Draft.
I agree, Alabama has as good a chance of winning the NC as T.O.’s chances of not being talked about next season. Interesting you have Denver #1 in the afc… I’d put the Chargers ahead of them (same division). The Broncos defense will be scary next year but I’m not convinced with Cutler yet and Henry isn’t the same back, although it is the Shanahan system he’ll be in. I dont think 1000 yards is as meaningful anymore. Its all about getting first downs and scoring TDs. I’d rather have a guy rush for 800 yards with 20 TDs than a guy with 1300+ with 10 TDs. As for the NFC, the Saints definitely belong at the top in my opinion as well, but Philadelphia is a question mark. They lost stallworth, the defense is aging in some areas, and a lot rides on McNabb’s health now that the Eagles made a boneheaded move in not signing back Garcia. I don’t like Dallas much, but theyre much better than the Packers. As for the 49ers, I’m waiting to see what they do in the draft because they are a huge question mark. They seem to have the pieces in play and may be one of the most talented teams in the league but when it comes down to Sunday I’m not sure how the team itself will play. I still like them to be in the hunt for the playoffs, being that theyre in the NFC. The Giants are a major question because it rides on Eli now that Tiki is gone. I still rate them ahead of the Bucs.
As for the Bills, how could you have them your 6th in the AFC? 4 of their games are against the Jets and Pats, 2 a piece, and they figure to go 1-3 against them at best, and teams like Cincy (if they stay out of jail) and KC and Jacksonville and Baltimore are WAY better than the bills. The Bills need a running back AND a qb and the defense is starting to become old. They lost McGahee, Losman is a BUST, and Nate Clements is on San Fran now. I see this team picking in the top 5, maybe 10 picks in the 08 draft.
my order:
NFC
1 New Orleans (Can secondary get better? How will Colston Brees and Reggie fare against competition that gameplan against them specifically? Colston is no longer a no-name wideout)
2 Philadelphia (All on McNabb)
3 Seattle (Hasselback+Alexander, can both stay healthy?)
4 Dallas (still a playoff team)
5 Chicago (Even with Grossman, defense gets you far in this league)
6 Carolina (Theyll finally play up to hype)
7 NY Giants (Will Droughns hold up+What about injuries)
8 San Fran (nice additions, can they win?)
9 Atlanta (Does Vick turn it around?)
10 St. Louis (Defense must improve)
11 Washington (Good talent, but too much youth)
12 Green Bay (Bad secondary+RB replacement?)
13 Tampa Bay (Garcia needs more weapons)
14 Arizona (Does an O-Line exist?)
15 Detroit (Rookie qb will struggle, some nice additions in Bell and Foster etc)
16 Minnesota (QB situation + overall talent, needs a good draft)
AFC
1 Indianapolis (ever heard of Manning?)
2 San Diego (MVP and good D)
3 New England (Brady+Stallworth+Defense)
4 Baltimore (McGahee becomes the more versatile Lewis + great D)
5 NY Jets (Washington impressive, new RB? or new DB?)
6 Denver (loaded with talent, not quite sold on Cutler yet)
7 Cincinnati (do they stay out of jail? defense must improve)
8 Kansas City (Green is underrated, LJ is back, needs WR, aging O-Line means rebuilding time in a couple of years)
9 Jacksonville (impressive Taylor+Jones-Drew 1-2 punch, what about QB?)
10 Pittsburgh (decent D, can they get their swagger back?)
11 Tennessee (wont have as glamarous a year as last year, not sold on talent on both sides of ball)
12 Houston (figures to improve through draft, needs a RB and better overall D)
13 Miami (defense still playing well, can Culpepper revert to old form?)
14 Buffalo (RB? QB? From 7 of defense is decent, but lost Clements at DB)
15 Oakland (good passing D, no front 7, rookie QB likely to struggle, if they take a non-bq then Walter isn’t the answer, NO o-line. what more is there to say?)
16 Cleveland (hard to imagine any team being worse than oakland, but injuries nag this team, they need to fill QB AND RB but can only draft an impact player at one of these positions. Troy Smith + Adrian Peterson combo would be nice. Not sure if Frye is the answer, but look what hes given. Edwards and Winslow are decent, Bentley should be back at C, but O-Line isnt too impressive and D isnt good. NIGHTMARE for cleveland. tossup betw them and oakland for worst team in afc AND nfl.)
Super Bowl XLII:
Seattle vs. Indy, just as we wanted a couple years ago.
Seattle because of the great balance. The defense is getting better and is really agressive and the balance on Offense with Hasselback and Alexander is great. Mack Strong is a great lead blocker and there are weapons at WR. Their division doesnt poise much trouble for them just as it hasnt in the past. Don’t let this team get homefield advantage throughout the playoffs, they will be hard to beat. I give them an edge over the Saints in the playoffs, the Saints just have an easier division with underachieving teams during the regular season. NO needs to improve every position in the secondary other than Mike McKenzie who was decent.
Indianapolis
Because of a man named Manning. They got over the NE hump, the offensive line and receivers are back and Joseph Addai will emerge into an impact player. It was nice having Rhodes as backup RB, but it isnt that big of a loss. The D lost LB June and DB Harper, but if Sanders at safety remains healthy this D can be good. They have a great tandem of DEs and the linebackers are enough to pass by. The inside D-Line lost Simon last year, but McFarland and other additions made up for the Defensive front. If the run D plays even half as well as it did in the playoffs, Manning and the offense will take care of the rest. They have a tougher road than Seattle. There are maybe 3-4 contenders in the NFC while there are probably 6-8 contenders in the AFC.
My picks for the regular season are the winners on paper. They play the games because the team that looks better doesnt always play better. There will be a team who screws over my predictions but based on overall talent, I’ve made my picks.
just watch alabama football and you’ll see..this year they are going to be dominant..i gaurentee it…the cowboys though will be even better when they finish with a 14-2 record and win the superbowl
by the way mikey..alabama doesnt play florida this year..so good call bud…even if they did alabama would blow florida out 42-0..instead..alabama will blow florida state out this year

this site is so stupid. It hasnt even updated the falcon houston trade.
An updated mock is coming TJ. From a time standpoint, it’s just not feasible to update the mock more than every few weeks until we get into April.
too many people are hating on brady quinn!!!!! I bet 100 bucks that Brady Quinn will be the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, with mnat reasons. 1. He is coached by one of the best coaches.2 he had the best stats then any QB. and theres more!
i suppose you a are a big notre dame fan josh. i know what you mean. brady quinn is good but he definently will not be the number 1 pick and his stats were not near as good as colt brennan from hawaii. brennan led the nation in passing efficiency and yards per game. so your wrong about he had the best stats because he actually wasnt even in the top 5 in quarterback stats. as for the coachs being the best coachs, if they were then notre would have won the national championship
by the way josh. i’ll take that bet
Quinn was 18th in the nation in passing efficiency…3rd in td’s…10th in yards per game…and 29th in passing completion %…so i would not say he had the best stats…make you know what are talking about before you try to bragg on someone
but i think quinn will be the best quarterback in this class after a few years of experience. j. russell will be good too but quinn i think will be better
Troy smith is an excellent QB in college, but noone really knows what he will do in the pros. I dont know if you watched the pro workouts but he impressed scouts with his 4′3 40. He will be a late 1st round pick. yup
Troy Smith is not a pro quarterback. Eventhough I am a young 13 year old sports fan from Michigan and hate Ohio State and he was a good college quarterback, hes not going to make it in the pro’s. When you put him up against players like Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis, theres no way he is going to be anything. He wont be able to get the ball of because of his late release too. He goes middle second round if not early 3rd because of his size. Now, with the second pick in the draft, the lions, is what makes the draft what its going to be. The Raiders are almost certainly going to take Jamarcuss Russell because of the release of Aaron Brooks. I have watched the lions waste 3 straight first round picks on wide receivers and 2 of them don’t even play on the team anymore. They probably should again this year with Calvin Johnson because he is the most athletic, amazing, most skilled player in this years draft and probably can completely change the lions and maybe even get them in the playoffs this year. ha yeah right… It appeared for awhile the lions were going to pick the highly skilled Joe Thomas at the second spot but they aqquired some offensive lineman in trades and i doubt they will take him. They probably should take Brady Quinn if they dont take Calvin Johnson because the quarterback position has made the lions what they are today. Horrible. Some experts are also saying Gaines Adams because we lost James Hall. But with re-singing of Kalimba Edwards and placing a franchise tag on a d-lineman. I doubt we will pick him because we have the second pick in the draft. We will probably trade down if we take him but i doubt it will happen. We don’t need a running back in Adrian Peterson because we already have Kevin Jones who is probably the most under-rated back in the league and recently signed TJ Duckett. After saying all this, I think Calvin Johnson is the best pick for the lions, Here are my first five picks in the draft:
1. Oakland-Jamarcuss Russell
2. Detroit-Calvin Johnson
3. Cleveland-Brady Quinn
4. Tampa Bay-Adrian Peterson
5. Cardinals-Joe Thomas
troy smith will not do anything good in the nfl and he will be at possible middle to late 2nd round pick
Yep. The Bucs are willing to get a top 10 pick again this year if they take the “13 year olds” suggestion. First off this guy isnt 13, second Carnell Cadillac Williams had an extremely hot start before getting injured 2 yrs ago. Im not sure id call cadillac injury prone, but even if he was, youd be paying top-end money for a second runningback. Does cadillac not make enough already?
Cowboys will finish about 10-6. If you werent a fan, you wouldnt possibly think a team with their players could finish 14-2. They are above average. The defense is decent, and the offense is enough to keep them in games. I really need to see the defense improve because the offense keeps them in ball games, and the defense sometimes gives the game away. As for Alabama, I suggest you watch some USC football first. Dominant team, losing 2 receivers and only 1 dfensive player Dallas Sartz, and Ryan Kalil was good but he was lost because of graduation. The offensive line will still be dominating and booty has another year under his belt. Remember the name PATRICK TURNER. He will be a first rounder in next years draft if he leaves early. Nobody knows him because Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith are all much bigger, important names. And if they do beat Florida State 42-0, which is .000001% likely to happen, it isnt saying much after the year FSU had. If you guys were to beat a team such as Notre Dame, it would feel good for you but NOotre Dame is just an overrated school with a lot of program history and prestige.
I’m a huge Jets fan, but I could admit we’re looking at about a 10-6, 11-5 tecord. 14-2 is rediculous. San Diego was the only team who managed it last year. The Chargers had a great D, especially the linebackers, and LT was a force. Phillip Rivers did look good early on but started to tail off at the end, just as Tony Romo did.
Cowboys dont have a 14-2 team. The defense is lacking in the secondary and the front 7 is just adequate. They dont have a weapon like LT. Witten is their version of Antonio Gates except Gates is much better. I really see Romo having a tougher time this season than he did when he first started. I give this team a 10-6 prediction, but being in the division theyre in, and with their team, missing the playoffs altogether wouldnt surprise me much.
That said, they have a MUCH better chance at the Super bowl than Bama has at winning the NC. Nick Saban will get them winning, but he cant snap his fingers and make this team win in the SEC. NC teams typically have 0-1 losses. Alabama will have at least 2-3 in the SEC alone, maybe more.
USC is legit, Jets have some chance. The Cowboys may win it all but not at 14-2, and Alabama wont even win the SEC championship, let alone the NC. If you werent a fan, you wouldnt be so biased and Alabama winning it all would sound as funny to you as it does to me. Same with Dallas going 14-2.
first of all…the jets suck!!! second USC sucks!!!! i GUARENTEE bama will have a better record than USC and dallas will kill the jets when if they play them
daniel your an idiot..how do u like a college team that is across the country from your favorite nfl team..u aint no fan..u have co clue what your talkin about
Im not a Lions fan, but I really think they should trade M. Williams for R. Moss. Greenbay doesnt look to make a move to get him. Its a 1st rounder for a 1st rounder(Which Oakland wants) and if Oakland doenst want to then Detroit could even add a late pick to make the deal better for Oakland. With Roy Williams and Randy Moss on each side and Tatum Bell in the Backfield there offense would be pretty good. Then add Joe Thomas with the 1st round pick and their offense would be set. The rest of their picks could be used on Defense. Will this happen though, No. I just wanted to throw the idea out there.
I think San Fran. Will pick Patrick Willis with their 1st Rd pick and they will get some receivers and D-Linemen later in the Draft, they do have 8 picks in the First 4 Rds. Plus there offseason acquisitions are making them a much improved team.
Anyone else want to hear what I think there team should do.
you got a very good point there mikey..the only problem is that the lions will not get randy moss because of his issues. he is a very good player but the lions dont want to deal with him. i think mike williams will be a good wide receiver in the future maybe this season he’ll have a good year with a good QB
logic cant trump history for a franchise that used top-10 draft choices on receivers in three straight years from 2003 through 2005 — Charles Rogers (No. 2 overall in 2003), Roy Williams (No. 7 overall in 2004) and Mike Williams (No. 10 overall in 2005) — with very poor results. even if Johnson is available, the Lions, who are trying to trade out of the No. 2 pick, can’t pick him. they made it pretty clear in free agency that Johnson isnt on their list, re-signing Mike Furrey (98 catches last season) as a $3 million a year No. 2 receiver to play next to Roy Williams. They gave former Rams receiver Shaun McDonald a two-year, $2.8 million contract.
check this out. in 1999 Marshall Faulk had 1,381 yards. in 2000 he had 1,381 rushing yards. in 2001 he had 1,382 rushing yards. now that is weird stuff
no trades as they are impossible to predict. also please leave a grade according to your team so I may know how to improve it for next time.

#11. Adam Carriker to San Fran is pretty likely. However, as a Niners Fan I would prefer that they get Ted Ginn Jr. 1st(Im a buckeyes fan as well) then get Victor Abiamiri 2nd Rd. They have 8 picks the 1st 4 rounds they could even do some trading up. Because Bryant Young has been the man in San Fran for a while and hes from Notre Dame, just like Victor, its only right that he get ready to take over Young’s spot in the future and share sometime this year. This is only my opinion, they could be better off with Carriker. Patrick Willis could be a good pick as well. The Niners Coaching staff seemed to like him at the Senior Bowl and he could be a leader that their Defense needs. Also Derek Smith is coming off an injury, so who knows how good he will be?
#42 Jason Hill might happen also, if they go Defense with their 1st Rd pick. San Fran needs a receiver that can stretch the field. If Craig Davis is available he could be a possibility. Sidney Rice if available could be picked there also. Either way San Fran will get the players they need to fill in their current weeknesses, that still remain after free agency additions.
to answer your question lutrell, my parents grew up in ny so my dad had a high influence on me when i was a little kid. As the years went by, I liked them because I had gotten so used to following and rooting for them. As for USC, i didnt follow college football at all until i went to the USC vs BYU game. I didnt even know who matt leinart was til i got there. They hadnt won the NC yet and it was leinarts first year. Last time i checked, Dallas and Bama were 2 different states also. Does that mean you should be a Longhorns fan?
As for the Jets vs the Boys matchup… we can only go back and forth til it actually happens. USC will have a much better record. I admit that if USC were in the SEC theyd probably lose a game or 2. But Bama? Nick Saban doesnt take a middle of the road team to NC contenders in the first year. Yeah bama has some history but theyve done very little as of late. Last i checked, USC disappointed everyone and disappointment was defined by a Rose Bowl beating of Michigan.
Youre an idiot too luttrell. Since your favorite football teams are in different regions youre an idiot… right? yeah i aint no fan… ive just stayed on my teams bandwagon since i learned to walk…
so if bringing out your insecurities out on me is your style then so be it, but I can say it how it is. The Jets most likely wont win the super bowl or go 14-2, but the fact that they have a team good enough to make the playoffs keeps hope alive. Unlike you, I choose not to look like an idiot by saying my teams going 14-2, let alone superbowl. But hey, what nfl fan doesnt like to think theyre team will win it all?
On the other hand, i dont understand why youre bragging so much about Alabama. This is 2007. Theyre not doing jack squat in today’s SEC. If they happened to be lucky enough to make it to the NC, USC would be there to knock the life out of them.
So Dallas, a strange prediction but Bama isnt going anywhere.
So maybe youre a real fan and maybe youre not, but I can guarantee i know more about the nfl than you. I don’t need to copy mock drafts to look original.
nah i guarantee u dont know half of what i know about the NFL. and im not gonna look like an idiot and argue with you over this forum so all i am goin to say is lets just watch some football…
oh and by the way i made up both of those mock drafts so good call by u bud…idiot
Alabama goes undefeated and wins the NC… thats a good call itself huh?
anyone who watches the nfl knows the cowboys arent going 14-2
and youre right
this dramas stupid
like you said, lets watch some football
and by the trade deadline the cowboys will have lost enough games to spoil their 14-2 season and if not by the trade deadline, then by the halfway point theyll definitely have over 2 losses
oh man your guarantee is pretty promising
any idiot can make up a mock draft
im a culprit too
ive made up mocks and ive stopped because its such a waste of time since one team can screw over the entire mock (i.e., all those who had reggie as a texan)
im surrpised mel kiper even gets televised. might as well put you or me up there and call us experts
anyways i agree the arguing stops over who knows more about football because we both probably know our own share of info… but as for arguing on our teams behalf its all good… everyone likes to think their team is better than everyone elses
with that said, cowboys are unlikely going to win the superbowl, and if they do, it wont be as a team entering 14-2. Props to them if they prove me wrong. As for Bama, i really dont see them making it. Im not sure where they rank in the preseason polls, but all i know is usc is #1, and if we lose a game we wont fall too far. fair? never said it was. but a rebound for us is much easier than any other team. update me where bama is ranked nationally? i usually dont pay attention after the first 5-10 top teams unless usc is excluded. in which case i look to see where they rank
well i looked up the top 25 preseason poll. it failed to mention alabama
another surprise… ucla is 9th???
had they not beaten usc last year, theyd barely manage to crack the top 20, at best.
ive seen 2 different polls consistently… ucla is 9 in one and 15 in the other
usc is #1 in every ranking ive looked at and alabama is considered 23-25 in some rankings
the reason i am so behind is last year i paid attention to see where usc would be, but this year i knew everyone would have them as #1, so either way alabama has a chance although its a longshot. some teams can lose 1-2 games, but bama can only lose 1 at most
it doesnt matter where they rank the teams for preseason. like u said anyone could just make a top 25 for preseason. after the first 5 wins for alabama, they will be in the top 20 atleast. im looking at USC schedule and they could lose at most 5 out of the 12 games.

bama-12-0 plus sec title and nc title
cowboys-14-2
jets-9-7
usc-7-5
plus for the cowboys their 6th (most in the NFL) superbowl victory
HAHA usc going 7-5. do u even watch fball??
ofcourse i watch football. its only the greatest game ever
then how can you possibly think usc is going 7-5? i think its weird enough you have alabama winning the title, but being that youre a fan of them youre gonna think that as any fan would. but love or hate usc they arnt gonna lose 5 games
yea well u never know…what if their startin QB RB WR OL AND best defensive player gets injured lol…u never know
omg lol!!!!! w/e dude sanchez was high school player of the year a couple years ago and hes the backup qb, usc has 3-4 different runningbacks with only one dude kind of emerging, the receivers are bad cuz they lost smith and jarret, and they have 10 returning d starters so one guy getting hurt doesnt make a big difference. maybe you love and watch football, but i highly doubt you know a thing about usc. not only do WAY too many things have to happen, but football is a game much more than about one player. usc doesnt have as much star power but collectively theyre awesome and one injury will hurt but not shatter them.
yea i know..i know usc wont lose 5 games this year but id figure id mess with ya
here is my top 10 picks for the draft
1. raiders-Jamarcus Russell QB LSU
2. bucs(from lions)-Calvin Johnson WR GT
3. browns-Brady Quinn QB ND
4. lions(from bucs)-Joe Thomas OT WIS
5. cards-Gaines Adams DE CLEMSON
6. skins-Adrian Peterson RB OKLAHOMA
7. vikes-LaRon Landry S LSU
8. falcons(from tex)-Ted Ginn Jr. WR OSU
9. phins-Leon Hall CB MICHIGAN
10. texans(from atl)-Alan Branch DT MICH
your picks are reasonable, but Washington has Ladell Betts AND Clinton Portis at RB so i doubt theyll take another RB to pay $8-10 million a year. i see the texans taking an o-lineman if they can, but even if they went DT most teams favor the 19 yr old Amobi Okoye from L’Ville. the cardinals will likely take joe thoman, but if yuor mock is correct through the first 4 then they can either go adams or peterson. I see the Falcons taking Okoye or a good wr, so maybe theyll trade up for cj, but if not, theyll trade down if ginn is really their guy. Ginn is super fast but not polished as a WR and is likely a middle-late 1st round pick rather than a top 10 pick. The Dolphins and Leon Hall wouldnt be a bad fit but I think they need help offensively and need a first round talent there, but they are hard to predict as they are somewhat in no-man’s-land
we’ll have to see how things play out
yea i have read a lot of tomorrows draft and it seems as if they falcons are going to try and do all they can to get calvin johnson. with cj on the falcons team and an upgraded defense the falcons will be a superbowl caliber team
told u russell was the best… quinn is a bitch. 22nd pick
Nice call luttrell… looks like atlanta really tried for CJ. Theyd be trading EVERYTHING to get him. aside from russell you didnt get ANY of the top 10 right. I don’t bother predicting these things. It’s worthless. Teams dont think like Mel Kiper because Mel Kiper is an idiot. Teams think differently which is why Ginn was a reach at 9 and Whitner was a reach at 9 last year. Will the trend continue?
I heard the Texans want a do-over.
they were trying too u idiot the lions didnt want to do it. the texans are gonna suck again. and i hate to say it but the cowboys had the worst draft iv ever seen in my life
yea well…good call on everybody sayin troy smith would go in the first 4 rounds…hes gonna suck i gaurentee it
Troy Smith has a better chance to take over after Steve McNair leaves rather than Kyle Boller.
yeah but nobody really expected troy smith to go that high… most people on this thread were saying this before the NC game in which he totally blew it… but yeah the Jets got Revis and he’ll be useful and they didnt really give up too much cuz they had extra picks in the rounds they traded to get revis… and yeah sorry lutrell but i really dont understand the anthony spencer pick. as much as we disagree about things, i think we both could agree they needed to address the secondary before the bolstered up the D-Line. they didnt even have a 2nd round pick either… Dallas looks like they are content with working with what they have, because they didnt grab an impact player anywhere. Revis might be average as a rookie, but he will have a chance to play nickel or even be the 2nd CB in certain situations. He CAN make an impact where as Spencer wont be needed by the ‘Boys for a couple more years. Usually 1st rounders are impact and the later rounds are selected based on the future. Dallas didnt choose their picks that way or they wouldve grabbed a safety/corner or any other area of need. then again, safeties landry griffin nelson and merriweather all went ahead of them and corners revis hall and ross went before them also. eric weddle was the next best safety and chris houston had the impressive 40 that made him the next best corner, but neither were 1st round talents so they had to grab a pick they thought gave them value. In other words, they should’ve maybe traded up to get who they wanted, but its hard to predict all 6 different DBs going ahead of you. Either that or they couldve traded their 1st round pick for a 2nd rounder and 3rd this year and maybe a pick next year. Either way, they didnt improve the secondary much but they are in decent shape. Romo is going to have to step up and the defense needs to hold their ground. Dallas should be in decent shape. I still think they are a 10-6, maybe 11-5 football team and the Jets to me are a 10-6 team, although with NE in the division things wont be easy.
yea i know right…but so far iv read only good things about their draft picks so maybe they all turn out to be no name superstars you never know but yea the jets had a decent draft and it is going to be very tough to play against tom brady/randy moss..
You can never go off what reviews say about a player. Anything you read usually has something positive written about them if its from a source related to the team. The real way to see if theyre any good is in person. For example, I won’t be sold on Darrel Revis until I see him on the field. I want to see how he adjusts to the NFL and his play will likely reflect his effort. Hopefully Spencer becomes a good player for you guys. The late round picks always have some hidden story written about them and how they have a chance of being a hidden gem. 1% of them come true. Marques Colston went from nearly irrelevant to a great player as a rookie before getting injured. So basically I don’t judge rookies until I see them play, regardless of all the appealing numbers they produce in college or in combines. Maybe your late round picks will become something. These players seldom have any impact this year and will take a good 3-4 years to blossom into starters and potential stars. Until then we’ll watch some football and reevaluate this draft in a few years. Hopefully every team found their hidden gem as the Saints did last year.
ya… i dont really think dallas will win it all. and the jets got a little better but the patriots are too good.
im guessin you are a patriots fan john. im not saying they will be a superbowl caliber team with the addition of randy moss but he will help with the deep threat and he will spread the defense out so the pats can run more. lawrence maroney will be real raw this year
im not a fan of any team in particular. im a fan of the game and i like to root for teams with good stories. i wouldnt like to see the patriots do well because they have only been there so many times, but i acknowledge that their team is awfully good looking this year. better than dallas and new york anyways. as for dallas, im not sure if i like them to much. partly due to TO and i dont like jerry jones (who happens to remind me of hugh hefner) but luckily parcells left cuz i hated him too. he was a good coach dont get me wrong but his ego annoyed the hell out of me. some stories id like to see next season:
*tennessee doing well despite pacman suspension and VY breaking the madden jinx
*cardinals make playoffs and live up to hype they seem to have every year, im a leinart fan. loved him at sc.
*vikings just because they wont be expected to do much and I’d like to see jackson surprise people. he can scramble and would be exciting to watch.
*falcons make playoffs. vick in the playoffs = high tv ratings and lots of excitement for a neutral fan such as myself.
*detroit, how surprising would it be if they pulled something off?
*jets win afc east, or any other team for that matter. the patriots are superbowl favorites at this point and what an upset we’d have if they didnt even win their division
*giants, id like to see them do well without tiki, but tiki was the glue to the entire team
*carolina - a team this talented shouldnt be missing the playoffs in consecutive years. they remind me of miami before ricky williams suspension. miami sucked after being a super bowl favorite. redskins also are talented and would be fun to watch
*dallas - how will romo fare in a full season? who will be the new holder? we all know who it wont be
*cleveland, what a sting it would be for teams if quinn could pull the browns into the playoffs… only thing is hes a rookie and the browns arent too talented
*raiders, one word, maybe two or three: year-long upset
*id like to see mcnabb return to form, although im sure luttrell would disagree
*packers - id love to see favre have a shot in the postseason, but who on earth is their back?
TEAMS I REFUSE TO ROOT FOR
*Indy- superbowl champs, love manning but i dont like repeats
*chicago for as long as grossman plays qb
*St. Louis, being a los angeles native, this is the team that turned me into a neutral fan
*raiders, id love to see them win big just to stir up some major upsets around the league, from dead last to first, but id be quick to hate them again. i almost want them to do well this year so i can continue to hate them
*any afc west team for that matter, san diego is the closest thing i have to a favorite team and with LT on the roster there should be no worries if hes healthy. plus i had seasons tickets years back
*steelers, won the super bowl with the refs help. they couldve won anyways, but they were guaranteed it with that officiating. plus im not sold on rothlisberger and im just not much of a fan.
*patriots, if you couldnt tell
*bengals, they should be a part of the europe league. offense is great, defense is less than impressive, and so is the team’s character in an understatement. this team has lost all respect from me. carson is one guy i like and chad is entertaining, but the team as a whole is a disgrace to the league because of their behavior.
*Miami, Buffalo, Jacksonville - simply not much fun to watch.
*any team who fails to keep up the integrity of the game… peace folks
my sleeper: San Francisco 49ers
I’d love for them to be a powerhouse. I’m a Jets fan first, but the Niners are in the NFC first of all and it would be nice to see that franchise running the way it did in the 80s and 90s.
my sleeper: san diego chargers
they have by far the best running back in all time history in tomlinson and rivers will develop into a probowl QB and they drafted that safety/corner that i loved in college - eric weddle from utah. this could be the first cornerback in the nfl in a long time that is white. he might play safety tho because he is a great tackler and he has real good speed
eric weddle is a playmaker with excellent ball skills. he is tough and like i said before i great tackler. he is smart and a very hard worker. he also returned punts for the Utes and he might do that for the chargers as well. i think he is very underrated and he will be one of those rookies that will show a lot of skill his first pro season.
hey luttrell… genious “sleeper” pick… san diego is only considered one of the super bowl contenders already. A sleeper is a team that nobody is expecting anything great from that puts the doubters aside and impresses everyone. I think many people including myself are expecting huge things from them. 49ers, my sleeper, is expected to be a team near the middle of the pack. I pick them to prove everyone wrong and be a great team next and they are considered sleepers because of the expectations. The Chargers cant be sleepers because nobody really has much to say against them being contenders. So if youre gonna pick a sleeper reconsider. Because SD is one of the favorites to win it all with the likes of the pats and colts. Let me know what your sleeper pick is when you understand what exactly a sleeper is.
the 49ers are gunna suck AGAIN SO GOOD CALL DUUUDDEEE!!!! the cowboys are gunna win it all anyways so it doesnt even matter what u idiots post up here
yeah luttrell… they MIGHT just suck as much as you say… but thats why theyre my sleeper pick. they may surprise people and youve set low expectations for them so they truly can be considered a sleeper if people like you think so lowly of them. you might be right, or you might be one of those doubters that was wrong about them. as for cowboys they wont win it all but itll be a good year, playoffs for them possibly. but hey im an idiot. if you say theyre gonna win that must mean theyre gonna win right? id pennington over romo any day. pennington doesnt turn the ball over often… romo might just be a one year wonder… he started to be very average as he got more starting time…
i agree with dan. only a team with low-expectations can be considered a sleeper IF they do well. San Diego is one of those teams that everybody is high on. That’s like saying Peyton Manning is a sleeper pick for MVP. you know hes in the discussion every year. anyways my personal sleeper: Tampa Bay if Garcia plays like he did in Philly. I dont think many people expect much more than an average team. The defense is still pretty good, Cadillac is good when healthy, and the receivers are ehh…
the cowboys are winnin the superbowl this year..gaurenteed
TERRELL OWENS WILL LEAD THE NFL IN RECEPTIONS, YARDS AND TD’S IN 07!
Just like pacman will lead the league in interceptions and games played!!!
T.O. is undoubtedly great on the field but i still hate him
cowboys WONT win the superbowl, guaranteed
im hoping for the best from the jets but i wont go overboard til they play some games
romo isnt gonna look as great this year
cowgirls are gonna be good, not great
just like peyton manning will lead the league in rushing yards by a qb.
just like the raiders will go 16-0 this year
just like the cowboys will be about 10-6 (oh wait, no sarcasm there)
i agree with dan
the boys will be good but they wont win the superbowl. the nfc is somewhat weak but romo wont be the qb dallas needs to emerge.
DONT DOUBT TONY ROMO..HE WILL BE THE BEST QB IN THE LEAGUE
I’ve doubted Romo at times last season and he proved me right… he’s very average but had a couple of good games early… everyone was so sick of bledsoe that Romo was forgiven much easier. I think Romo will keep Dallas in games but he wont win them. With that said, I don’t like the supporting cast enough to be convinced that they will have a good year.
theres so much happening for romo outside of football well have to see if he can keep his head in the game
If only Carrie Underwood were a linebacker, maybe then Romo wouldnt mind getting sacked so much
You’re right. I didnt realize he had so much going for him outside of football. We’ll have to see how he likes his new coach and how he handles being the center of the spotlight now. I honestly think he doesnt deserve it but hey people hope he’ll be the next Aikman. He had a good half year. He doesn’t deserve the attention but thats what you get when you QB what once was America’s team. (that title is now partially owned by the Saints)
first of all no one will ever see this but i somehow stumbled on it and wow like the title says “you’re all idiots” not a single one of you guessed anything right…congratulations!!!
