Peyton Manning a Bears Fan?

Thursday February 8, 2007
It's amazing sometimes how some people take so seriously a game in which grown men chase around an oddly-shaped pointy ball and try to knock each other over. I mean, fans have been known to do some incredibly stupid and sometimes crazy things in the name of football or their favorite teams over the years.

Take the case of Scotte Wiese, a Chicago Bears fan who told friends that if his beloved team didn't win the Super Bowl, he'd change his name to that of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

"A bunch of friends and I were talking one night before the game, and there was a little alcohol involved," said Wiese according to AP reports. "I made the bet, and now I've got to keep it. I chose Manning because, well, he is kind of the face of the Colts franchise."
Being a man of his word (not a real bright man, but a man of his word nonetheless), he has taken the initial steps toward officially changing his name. The request, however, must still be approved by a judge before it takes effect.

By the way... we would have never guessed alcohol was involved if he hadn't told us.

I think there was more than just a little alchohol involved!
