Fans Try to Save LT From Madden Curse

Monday April 16, 2007
Imagine you're an NFL star in the prime years of your career, and a representative of EA Sports' Madden video game series approaches you about being on the cover of this year's version of the game.

Do you (a) graciously accept the offer, (b) say thanks, but no thanks, or (c) turn and run as fast as you can?

A group of San Diego Chargers fans thinks it's the latter and is taking a proactive approach in trying to protect their star player, LaDainian Tomlinson, from the curse of Madden. With much speculation suggesting the league's MVP will appear on this year's cover, saveltfrommadden.com was born. Here you'll find a petition you can sign begging the folks at EA to spare LT from the inevitable injury or unexplained drop in production.

As far as we know, though, there's no truth to the rumor that Oakland Raiders fans are currently in the process of building their own site called PleasePutAaronBrooksonMadden08.com.

What is the Madden Curse?

(1) Aaron says:

The chargers should worry about the curse of norv, not the curse of madden.
They should also worry about their best defensive player taking more steroids, or more of the criminals on the team getting arrested, AGAIN. These are all more realistic worries.

Aaron you need to worry about your own things and let Charger fans worry about what we want. All the “Bad” players are already off out team. And I’m sure whatever team you like we will stomp if we play them.

Poor stan,
you are living in a fantasy world.
How many of your powder blue and yellow chargers were arrested last year? Do you really think merriman goes wild the first quarter of the season without his steroids? Lt was mad because they were doing merrimans steroid dance??? LT is almost done. When running backs go south they go quicker then any other position.
Last year was yours and you and blew it.
14 and 2 will NEVER happen again. The charger chokers will NEVER win the superbowl. Now go home and choke your chicken to the #21 fathead on your wall.

How can you say LT is headed south? Was it because of his record breaking, mvp winning season? Hey stupid, neither of those are indications a player of his caliber is about done. And I dont think anyone is worried about Merriman since his “steroids” were a tiny ingredient in a supplement full of all kinds of stuff. I think he proved he can do without by still leading the league in sacks after missing 4 games. Not to mention that its not fair to accuse one person of steroids when everyone in the NFL uses HGH which gives FAR greater results than any tiny ingredient in a powder. You’re only kidding yourself if you think every yoked up muscle head in the NFL is all naural, if they ever find a way to test for HGH and ban it the NFL is done for cause 95% of the players will be gone. Also Aaron, if you had the slightest clue what you were talking about you would know that the chargers offense, yes the same one that lead the league last year, was installed by Norv Turner. They brought him back for the sake of continuity and as long as he keeps his hands off the defense we have nothing to worry about. And I dont know why you use “powder blue and yellow” in such a condescending manner since there are tons of players all around the league that I have personally seen quoted as saying the Chargers throwbacks are the coolest uniforms in the league. And lastly, although I was as dissapointed or more dissapointed than any chargers fan after they lost to the patriots anyone watching the game knows that the bolts were the better team that day. Even Tom Brady said its the toughest win he has ever had, thats the same Tom Brady that has won two superbowls with last minute field goals. So Aaron, I suggest that before you post your uninformed opinions on a chargers website that you at least know what you’re talking about. And why dont you let me know who your favorite team is huh? I bet its the bengals…… no, probably the colts.
