Washington Redskins 2007 Preview
We're wrapping up our preview of the NFC East with an overview of the Washington Redskins, who suffered through a very disappointing 2006 season.
Key to this season's success will be the further development of quarterback Jason Campbell, but of even greater importance is getting some production on the defensive side of the ball. Not only was the team's run defense anemic, but as a whole they couldn't make an impact play to save their lives. Twelve takeaways in 16 games is hardly a formula for success at any level of football. And even if Campbell is the second coming of Peyton Manning, he'd have a hard time compensating for such an inept defensive squad.
So the Redskins have made some sweeping changes, but for some odd reason they did not address their anemic pass rush. The turnover situation can't get a whole lot worse, but without added pressure, I don't see it getting a lot better in 2007. Read more...
