Redskins Taylor in Coma After Being Shot

Monday November 26, 2007
The Washington Redskins suffered a disappointing loss Sunday at Tampa Bay, but their fading playoff hopes became secondary Monday with the news that safety Sean Taylor was shot in his Miami home early Monday morning. Reports from the Miami Herald paint a grim picture for the star defensive back, who apparently was shot in the groin by an armed intruder.

Although his family has asked that no information on his condition be released at this time, it is believed that Taylor is in a coma and there is concern that he could suffer brain damage due to the loss of a substantial amount of blood that resulted from an artery being severed. There are also still questions about whether he will even survive this ordeal. He is currently listed in critical condition after undergoing six hours of surgery.

It's probably too early, and pointless at this time, to speculate on just exactly what happened, but it is odd that nothing, apparently, was stolen. Or that nothing is believed to have been stolen when his house was broken into a week prior to this incident. Perhaps, in this case, this was just a burglary gone bad and the perpetrators were forced to make a hasty retreat before police arrived. Or just maybe this was someone who knew Taylor and was out seeking a little revenge. Maybe someone he has feuded with in the past or perhaps one of the trouble-making friends he has been trying to steer clear of in an effort to clean up his life. Who knows at this point?

The thing we do know, though, is that a young superstar who seemed to be on the right track toward straightening out his life is now battling to stay alive. And even if he does survive, he may never be the same.

You’re right…Don’t speculate about who, why, or how…How

Sean Taylor has my prayers Robert. But that doesn’t change the fact that the circumstances surrounding this situation are a little strange. Two break-ins within about a week of each other in which nothing is believed to have been taken? Just seems a little odd to me.

First I would like to say RIP Sean Taylor and that my thoughts and prayers are with the Taylor family.

I would also like to comment on what Football said above. I dont believe this was a robbery either. His girlfriend has stated that they were sleeping and heard noises, when Taylor got up a man busted through the door and shot at him twice. Coupled with what happened two weeks ago I do believe this was intentional and not a robbery gone bad. I just hope now that the police catch this guy so justice can be served.

This man was just 24 years old…

A young black man get killed, and ESPN is still showing clips of Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Brett Farve, and other stuff from Sunday and earlier this week. C’mon show some RESPECT. Moment of reflection. OJ is getting more attention b/c he’s getting into trouble.
