Return of the Cheap Shots

Tuesday December 18, 2007
Two of the three Florida teams are heading to the NFL playoffs. Guess which is the only one to send a player to the Pro Bowl? That's right, the 1-13 Dolphins.

The college bowl season begins Thursday night with the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, and we had hoped to profile all the budding draft prospects involved prior to this game. Problem is, there really aren't any on either team.

Speaking of bowl games, at least 20 Florida State football players will be suspended from playing against Kentucky in the Dec. 31 Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl. In other news, there's actually a chain of hotels that willingly chooses to go by the name Gaylord.

Cowboys safety Roy Williams has been suspended one game for yet another horsecollar tackle. The amazing thing is, he continues to use this tactic to bring down defenders despite the fact that the rule was inspired by Williams himself, which naturally will draw more scrutiny from the officials.

Some goofball has vowed to live on the roof of a bar until the Ravens win a game, which will probably be about nine months from now.
