Dolphins Trade Taylor to Redskins
The Washington Redskins have been uncharacteristically quiet during the offseason, but circumstances Sunday forced them into a situation in which they were desperate for a defensive end, and the Miami Dolphins just so happened to have one on the trading block. With both veteran Phillip Daniels and second-year player Alex Buzbee lost for the season to injury during the first day of training camp, it looks like former Defensive Player of the Year Jason Taylor is on his way to the nation's capital.
FOXSports' Jay Glazer reports the Dolphins have agreed to send the defensive lineman to Washington in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft and a sixth-rounder in 2010.
Assuming the deal goes through, this is a win-win-win situation for all parties involved. Taylor gets to play for a team that has reasonable playoff expectations. Miami gets a couple draft picks for an aging veteran who didn't really want to be there. And the Redskins didn't overpay (How's that for an uncharacteristic move by Daniel Snyder?) for the pass-rushing threat from the outside they so desperately need.
