Pacman in a Fight

Wednesday October 8, 2008
Generally it's not really huge news when a football player gets in a fight. But when the football player is Pacman Jones, who has been ordered by the Dallas Cowboys to keep a low profile because of his past troubles with the law, it is significant news.

According to a CBS affiliate in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Jones got into a fight with a member of his own security detail on Tuesday night in the bathroom of a Dallas hotel. Per the report, the confrontation was violent and patrons could clearly hear that a fight was occurring. At least one mirror in the bathroom was broken.

Making matters worse, Jones allegedly went outside following the fight and left the hotel without paying his tab.

There was no police report filed, and it's unknown at this time whether Jones will face disciplinary action from the NFL or the Cowboys. It is known, though, that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell warned Jones at the time he was reinstated from a year-and-a-half suspension to stay out of further trouble or risk ruining his NFL career.

The troubling part of this is not just that Jones is creating more bad publicity for the league, but that it only took five weeks into the NFL season for some sort of negative incident to find him. Jones appears to be a magnet for trouble, and the Cowboys probably shouldn't rely too heavily on his services because they very well could find themselves without him before the year is over.
