Terence Newman Facing Hernia Surgery?

Friday October 10, 2008
Further complicating the dilemma created by the latest bad publicity at the hands of Pacman Jones is reports that fellow cornerback Terence Newman may be facing sports hernia surgery that could keep him out of the Dallas Cowboys' lineup for six weeks or more.

Per Ed Werder of ESPN.com, results of Newman's medical tests have been forwarded to a Philadelphia specialist for confirmation before determining whether surgery is necessary. If he indeed does have a sports hernia, he would undergo the required surgery immediately. Newman has already missed two of the Cowboys' games this year, and in his absence, Jones has emerged as probably the best defensive back on the team.

The Cowboys have already announced that Jones will not face disciplinary action from the team regarding the scuffle he was in Tuesday night, but the league office isn't through investigating the situation. If by chance league commissioner Roger Goodell should hand down some sort of sanction that puts Pacman out of the lineup, it would leave Dallas very thin at the cornerback position. Especially considering the somewhat disappointing play of Anthony Henry up to this point.

With the aerial attack of the Arizona Cardinals up next, this isn't a good time to have a depleted secondary!
