Did Favre Sabotage Packers?

Monday October 20, 2008
The deteriorating relationship between Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers took yet another strange twist over the weekend when reports surfaced indicating the future Hall of Famer might be working behind the scenes to make things tougher on his former club. According to a report by FOX Sports Jay Glazer, Favre spent 60-to-90 minutes filling in the Detroit Lions on the nuances of the Packers’ offensive attack prior to the Week Two game between the Packers and Lions.

If that truly is the case -- both Favre and Lions COO Tom Lewand denied the report to Sports Illustrated's Peter King -- then Favre is risking seriously scarring his legacy in Titletown along with alienating thousands of his long-time supporters. It would also cause me, personally, to lose a lot of respect for a guy whom I've admired for the majority of his career. Some of his former teammates are likely to be unhappy with him as well.

“He contacted them? I don’t respect that," cornerback Charles Woodson told Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "If they called him and he gives them information, that’s one thing. But to seek a team out, because you know I guess you’re trying to sabotage this team, you know I don’t respect that. I know he’s been the greatest player around here for a long time but there’s no honor in that.”
It's likely there will be a significant loss in admiration by Packers' fans as well because of this, and rightfully so. It's one thing to end your career with a different team. It's even understandable to part ways because of a rift with management. But it goes to another level when you actively sabotage the team you played with by sharing secrets with their opponent.

It was disappointing to watch Joe Namath finish his career with the Rams. Ditto Joe Montana and the Chiefs. But it's just plain sad to see the bitter divorce that has unfolded between the Packers and a player who once could do no wrong in the eyes of his fan base.

If you can’t beat Detroit……you suck anyway. Play the game and quit the bitchin: “Pout, pout, Brett called the other team and told them about how we play….” GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!

They changed their offense for Rogers!!!!!!!! That’s one excuse for not letting Favre come back!

What a bunch of pu$$ie$!

What’s Favre going to tell em they can’t see on the film?

Why shouldn’t he screw them over….they cut a Pro Bowl QB!
