This year's NFL playoffs begin on Saturday, and I find myself in the unusual situation of having selected a pair of road teams to start the postseason with wins. Don't take that too hard, though, Cardinals and Chargers fans. With the way I've picked this year, that could be a good sign for you.

Playoffs Could Get Off to Explosive Start
Hoping for some fireworks in this year's NFL playoffs? You may not have long to wait if regular season stats are any indication. On Saturday, in the opening contest of the postseason, the No. 2-ranked passing attack of the Cardinals will go up against the 21st-ranked pass defense of the Falcons while Atlanta's second-ranked running game takes on Arizona's 16th-ranked run defense. Obviously, predicting the outcome of this contest isn't as simple as looking at statistical rankings, but the numbers certainly indicate the potential for a shoot-out is there. Read more...

Chargers Face Uphill Battle at Home
There is no team heading into the NFL playoffs that is hotter than the Indianapolis Colts, who have won nine in a row. On the other hand, the San Diego Chargers, despite having won their last four, were hardly impressive during the regular season. In fact, they finished at just 8-8, slipping into the playoffs almost by default. But should we immediately write them off just because the competition in their division was pathetic? Read more...
