Forecast for Sunday
The NFC Championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals features a pair of teams that contrast on many levels. One is an East Coast team while the other is located out West. One comes into the playoffs as a runaway division winner while the other barely squeaked in as a wild card. And while the Eagles are making their fifth appearance in eight years in the NFC title game, the Cardinals have landed there for the first time in franchise history.
A couple things that both of them have in common, though, is that neither has won a Super Bowl nor were they expected to advance this far in this year's playoffs. But now that the dust has settled, the Eagles and Cardinals are the last two teams standing in the NFC, which means one of them will represent the conference in the Super Bowl. Experience at Quarterback Should be Deciding factor in AFC
When the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers line up against one another on Sunday with a chance to represent the AFC in Super Bowl XLIII, it will be as if each is looking in a mirror. There are a lot of similarities between these two squads in both talent and style of play. Both thrive mainly on tremendous defensive play and creating havoc that leads to turnovers and puts their offense in solid position. They both also like to pound the ball on the ground to set up their passing games.
The biggest difference, of course, being at quarterback where the Ravens have a rookie in Joe Flacco and the Steelers have a guy in Ben Roethlisberger who has numerous playoff appearances and a Super Bowl win on his resume. Read more...
