Dansby Interested in Playing in New York

Friday February 6, 2009
One of the more underrated linebackers in the league, in my opinion, is linebacker Karlos Dansby, who is fresh off an appearance in Super Bowl XLIII and set to enter free agency later this month unless he and the Arizona Cardinals can come to terms before they get to that point. Most likely he's going to draw a lot of interest on the open market, assuming he gets that far. And one place he has indicated he might be interested in landing is New York.

Appearing on The Sirius Blitz radio show with Adam Schein and John Riggins Wednesday, Dansby expressed his interest in The Big Apple.

"Oh, that's a whole 'nother animal, man. Playing in New York? Who wouldn't want to play in New York? That's just like playing for the Dallas Cowboys, you know what I'm saying? It's a big market. You're going to get an opportunity to be prime time. It's a huge market. I wouldn't mind playing in a huge market. I wouldn't mind at all."
Dansby also indicated, though, that if the G-Men want him as an outside linebacker, they're going to have to cough up some serious coin.
"I feel like I'm one of the elite players in the league if you ask me. I want to see what the other guys in my position are going to get such as Ray Lewis and Bart Scott. You've got Terrell Suggs out there. You've got guys like Albert Haynesworth that is going to take the market up to a whole 'nother level. I want to see where these guys are going to take the market before I do anything. If the deadline passes, then we're in a bidding war now so it's a beautiful situation to be in..."
So there you have it. If another team wants Dansby, he's going to be looking for a contract that reflects what he perceives as elite status.

The question is, is he that underrated?

And the answer is, he just might be for a team with needs at the position.
