Lee Roy SelmonNFL great and former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Lee Roy Selmon passed away Sunday afternoon at the age of 56 as the result of a stroke he suffered Friday at his home in Tampa. Despite conflicting reports about his condition, with a premature statement coming from Selmon's retaurant saying he had died on Friday, then another report from his brother Dewey over the weekend saying he was improving, the Pro Football Hall of Famer's death was confirmed by the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m..

Selmon entered the NFL as the very first NFL Draft pick in Buccaneers franchise history and quickly developed into one of the league's most feared pass rushers. His career peaked in 1979 when the Bucs made an appearance in the NFC championship game and he was named Defensive Player of the Year for his season-long efforts.

Even though a back injury ended his NFL career prematurely, Selmon was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1995.
