The NFL Combine has always struck me as a combination of meat market and lottery. The meat consists of the college players hopeful of entering the NFL and getting a fat contract. The lottery entrants are there to inspect and salivate over the meat.
There are rarely any huge surprises at the combine. Most NFL personnel people already know the players inside and out, from their height and weight to their vertical leap and even their IQ scores.
Still, there are always smaller surprises, which in the NFL can mean the difference between millions of dollars and even Super Bowl Championships.
