Let's face it. Whether the stereotype is fair or not, football players aren't highly regarded for their intelligence (not to say there aren't a lot of smart guys playing the game). And as a result, the large amount of time they spend in front of a microphone answering questions can lead to some very amusing moments.

Man, I get tired of the constant put downs directed toward football players by you media types. You write as if you have nothing to do with the creation of the public perception of football players!
It has been my privilege to watch the NFL up close for 14 years (and I personally coached football for 31 years) and let me tell you, I have met far more intelligent football players in my lifetime than I have met intelligent sports writers!
Every once in a while, I would like to see one or two of you tell the whole story for a change. Report on some the amazing stories of the incredible accomplishments of the players that you so often degrade with your sweeping putdowns.
