Chris Henry Accused of Assault

Thursday April 3, 2008
At a time when perhaps he might be able to capitalize on the stink being raised by fellow wide receiver and teammate Chad Johnson, who's doing his best to land in a new uniform before the opening of the 2008 season, the Cincinnati Bengals' Chris Henry finds himself in hot water yet again.

According to a report on WKRC-TV, Henry was in custody Thursday morning and has been charged with assault as the result of a fight he was allegedly involved in Monday night. Henry faces counts of assault and criminal damaging based on the claims of an 18-year-old who says Henry smashed his car windshield and punched him in the face. Henry says it's a case of mistaken identity.

Henry was placed on an eight-game suspension in 2007 for a string of brushes with the law, and reportedly put on a zero-tolerance watch by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. If this latest allegation proves to be true, it will surely result in a minimum one-year ban from the league and could potentially mark the end of his NFL career.

So far we haven't been able to determine if there's any truth to the rumors that Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones offered a seventh-round draft pick for the troubled wide receiver when the news of his arrest broke.
