CBS television apologized Sunday for a breast-baring incident that occurred during the halftime show of Super Bowl XXXVIII that has left the television network red-faced.

At the end of a suggestive performance by singers Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson, the former 'N Sync member tore off part of Ms. Jackson's top, exposing her right breast.

According to Associated Press reports, after receiving several complaints, CBS spokeswoman LeslieAnne Wade said that CBS deeply regretted the incident and thay had no indication that any such thing would happen. She also apologized to anyone that was offended.

At the time of the incident, the network quickly cut away from the two performers and did not mention the incident on the air.

The shows producer, MTV answered back with a press release of their own, saying the incident was unrehearsed and unplanned.

Timberlake also claimed the incident was completely unintentional in a statement released to the press, saying it was just a ""wardrobe malfunction", but later reports from Jackson herself indicate the stunt was planned in advance.
