Pittsburgh trades the 11th, 44th, and 4th round pick this year and their 2nd and 5th round picks in 2005, to San Diego for the first overall pick this year.
1. Pittsburgh- QB- Ben Rothlesberger- Miami (Ohio)
Rothlesberger is an elite player who come draft day will be the first quarterback taken. His large stature, cannon arm, laser-like accuracy, and smart play are second to none. The Maddux experiment is close to completion and midway through next season Rothlesberger should be starting.
2. Oakland- WR- Larry Fitzgerald- Pittsburgh
The tremendous careers of Rice and Brown are either coming to an end after this season or soon thereafter. In a no holds barred grudge match it is Fitzgerald who is the first receiver off the board. Larry is plain nasty; he excels in every aspect of receiving. His footwork is superb and his ball control is as good as any prospect to ever come out. When paired with Joey Porter, they will make the loss of two of the greatest receivers ever, much easier.
3. Arizona- QB- Eli Manning- Ole Miss
Arizona makes a bold move and goes for the franchise quarterback. Arizona has many of the pieces in place to become a lethal offense in a year or two, and with Manning in the fold they might actually become one of the leagues elite scoring teams sooner than later.
4. NY Giants- T Robert Gallery- Iowa
Gallery is just too good to pass up. He is one of the most well rounded tackles to come out in a long time and can make the porous Giants offensive line much better next year.
5. Washington- SS- Sean Taylor- Miami (Fla)
Sean Taylor is an extremely elite prospect whom deserves to be a top-five pick. While the Redskins have a glaring need on their defensive line, they cant pass on this kind of talent. They should be able to address their line woes in the second round. With Gibbs back in town, I wouldnt be surprised to see them go after a running back early on, but you simply cant go wrong with Taylor here.
6. Detroit- RB- Kevin Jones- Virginia Tech
Come draft day, Jones will be the top running back to be drafted. His 40 will be top notch, reinforcing the burst he shows on the field. His ability to see the hole and make quick cuts is unparralled. While Stephen Jackson is a slightly better threat in the passing game, Jones is the better playmaker.
7. Atlanta- WR- Roy Williams- Texas
Williams is one of the best wide receiver prospects to come out in years, and if it werent for Fitzgerald he would be a top-five pick. When paired up with Price, he will provide Vick with an arsenal of weapons that will scare even the best defenses out there.
8. Cleveland- T- Shawn Andrews- Arkansas
Andrews is an elite talent who could warrant a top-three selection. Andrews eclipses his half of the field and dominates anyone in his path. With Andrews, and the emergence of Lee Suggs the Browns should be a better team next year.
