Round 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7
8. (40) Houston Texans - Matt Ware S/CB UCLA
The Texans' safeties are inconsistent in coverage, and I'd expect the team to look for some help early in the draft. Ware played corner and safety at UCLA, and he also has returned kicks and punts.
9. (41) Denver Broncos (from Washington) - Antwan Odom, DE Alabama
Bert Berry signed with the Arizona Cardinals, Hayward is little more than a situational pass rusher, and Marco Coleman is better suited in a backup role. The Broncos will likely use a first-day pick on an end with the talent to eventually start opposite Trevor Pryce.
10. (42) Tennessee Titans (from NY Jets) - Jason Babin, DE Western Michigan
The loss of Javon Kearse leaves the Titans looking for someone to consistently pressure the quarterback. Babin dominated against small-school competition, and it may take him a little longer than other top prospects to adjust to the NFL, but he has tremendous potential as a pass rusher.
11. (43) Buffalo Bills - Devery Henderson, WR LSU
The Bills don't have anyone with the speed to draw double teams away from Eric Moulds. Adding a receiver like Henderson would allow the Bills to move Josh Reed inside on three-receiver sets.
12. (44) Pittsburgh Steelers - Ben Watson, TE Georgia
The Steelers tight ends lack big-play ability, so if they get the chance to grab a guy like watson who can stretch the middle of the field, they may ignore more pressing needs.
13. (45) Oakland Raiders (from Tampa Bay) - Daryl Smith, ILB Georgia Tech
Bill Romanowski most likely will retire, and Eric Barton left via free agency, leaving a big need on the outside. Napolean Harris may move back to the inside this season, but selecting a middle linebacker like Smith is a possibility as well. He is an aggressive, instinctive, and active linebacker with good speed and range.
14. (46) San Francisco 49ers - Igor Olshansky, DT Oregon
The 49ers could use a big body next to Bryant Young, and Olshansky checks in at 6-5, 315 pounds. He is still a bit of a developmental prospect and somewhat of a risky pick here, but he possesses incredible upper-body strength and a nice upside.
15. (47) Chicago Bears - Dwan Edwards, DT Oregon State
Keith Traylor was cut loose, and the Bears are looking for a tackle that can provide an upfield rush. Edwards doesn't fit that mold exactly, but he does flash the ability to penetrate and would be a great value here. He's a run stuffer with good size and the frame for more. He has tremendous lower-body strength, and is solid at the point of attack against the run.
