Dwan Edwards

By James Alder, About.com

Position:

Defensive Tackle

School: Oregon State

Status: Senior

Height:

6-2½

Weight:

305

40-Yard Dash:

5.00

Positives:

Dwan Edwards is a run stuffer with good size and the frame for more. He has tremendous lower-body strength, and is solid at the point of attack against the run. He has good power and quickness as a pass-rusher and he puts a lot of pressure on the interior of an offensive line. He's a good tackler and gets off blocks well. Plays hard all the time and has a great work ethic.

Negatives:

Edwards' game is pretty solid all the way around, but I don't think he possesses the upside of some of the other top defensive tackles. He's not an elite athlete, and he may struggle against the massive interior linemen in the NFL.

Projection:

Edwards doesn't have the size to play the nose, so he will most likely be a one-gap tackle in the NFL. I do not foresee him being a superstar in the league, but he could be a solid starter. He looks like a late first-round or early second-round pick.
