Marcus Tubbs

By James Alder, About.com

Position:

Defensive Tackle

School: Texas

Status: Senior

Height:

6-4

Weight:

325

40-Yard Dash:

5.01 seconds

Positives:

Marcus Tubbs is very athletic for a 325 pound lineman. He’s got excellent size, power, and quickness, with a great up-field burst. He gets good penetration when he is fresh and has decent range along the defensive line. He's capable of handling a two-gap assignment... takes on double teams very well. He uses his hands well and ties up offensive linemen, allowing the linebackers to roam freely.
During his senior year at Texas, Tubbs recorded 74 tackles and 12 tackles for a loss, including six sacks.

Negatives:

Stamina is a bit of a concern and it's questionable whether he can be an every-down player in the NFL. While he does have a good burst off the line and often knocks offensive lineman into the backfield, he does not display a lot of pass-rushing skills. He also struggles to keep his weight in check at times.

Projection:

Tubbs looks to be your classic two-gap run stuffer, and might be a two-down player in the NFL. I expect him to be selected late in the first round or early in the second.
