Positives:
Nathan Vasher is an excellent cover corner with big-play ability. He doesn't have great size, but he's not overmatched by bigger receivers. He has good leaping ability and terrific ball skills, and he's very aggressive when the ball is in the air. He has sound technique with a quick backpedal and fluid hips that allow him to turn and run without losing a step. He's also a good open-field tackler and he plays the run well. He's a hard worker with solid very character.
During his senior season at Texas, he recorded six interceptions and broke up 23 passes. He was one of the most consistent players on the Longhorns defense over the past three years. He also has added value as a punt returner, averaging 13.7 yards per punt return last season. He has experience at safety as well.
Negatives:
The biggest knock on Vasher is his size, but he plays bigger than his height would indicate. He could also stand to add a little bulk to his frame.
Projection:
Had he entered the draft after his senior year, Nathan Vasher would have probably been a borderline first-rounder, and he really didn't do much to improve his stature during his senior season. He had a good season at Texas, but he didn't really improve his draft status. Look for him to go early-to-mid second round.
