Will Smith

By James Alder, About.com

Position:

Defensive End

School: Ohio State

Status: Senior

Height:

6-3

Weight:

260

40-Yard Dash:

4.70

Positives:

Will Smith is an excellent pass rusher with good quickness and a tremendous closing burst. He is very strong in the upper body and has good speed. He also possesses good agility, body control and balance.
He is a fiery competitor who plays tough, shows good instincts, and always comes to play hard. He gets off the ball very quickly, and can be a disruptive force in opposing backfields.

Negatives:

Smith is a little small for an every down defensive end in the NFL, but he should grow into the position. He sometimes gets blown off the line on running plays and needs to add some lower body strength. He also tends to get hung up on blocks at times... needs to learn to use his hands better.

Projection:

Had Smith declared for the 2003 NFL Draft, he probably would have been a late first-round selection. This year, he should go in the top half of the first round.
