NFL Draft - Tight End Rankings
Guide picks
Your About Football Guide ranks the top ten tight ends in the NFL Draft. Check out all the top tight end prospects, along with a short analysis and a prediction of when they will be selected.

Jason Witten, TE Tennessee
Most scouts agree Jason Witten is the best tight end prospect in the NFL Draft. Very good hands and route-running ability. Decent speed, good blocking skills. Should be the first tight end selected. Probably mid-to-late first round.

Dallas Clark, TE Iowa
Doesn't possess the size you would normally look for in an NFL tight end. Averaged over 16 yards per catch.

Bennie Joppru, TE Michigan
Solid blocker whose route-running and receiving skills are probably the best of all the tight end prospects. Bennie Joppru is one of the best tight ends and will probably be a second or third-round draft pick in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Teyo Johnson, TE Stanford
Good combination of size and speed. Played wide receiver at Stanford, but will most likely play tight end in the NFL. Teyo Johnson is one of the best tight end prospects and will probably be a second or third-round selection in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Robert Johnson, TE Auburn
Tight end Robert Johnson is a good blocker that excels in short-yardage situations. Has good size and strength, but has just average speed. Will probably be a third-round pick.

Aaron Walker, TE Florida
Aaron Walker is a huge target who runs well and is fluid for a player of his size. Needs to work on blocking skills and his footwork. Aaron Walker has a good chance of being selected on the first day of the 2003 NFL Draft. Probably the third round.

George Wrighster, TE Oregon
George Wrighster isn't as big as you would like a tight end to be, but he is probably as athletic as any prospect at his position. He is a bit raw, but has very good hands and is improving as a blocker. Should be a third-round pick in the NFL Draft.

Mike Pinkard, TE Arizona State
Raw prospect with good size and tons of potential. Athletic, but needs to improve his route-running and blocking. Mike Pinkard should be selected in the third or fourth round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

Mike Seidman, TE UCLA
Mike Seidman is the top tight end out of the Pac-10. He has good size, soft hands, and runs nice routes. Doesn't have the speed to get deep and needs to work on blocking skills. Figures to be a late-round selection in the NFL Draft.

Trent Smith, TE Oklahoma
Tight end Trent Smith is a solid receiving threat, but struggles as a blocker and does not have great speed. He will probably be a late round selection in the NFL Draft.
