Saturday
Miami 17
Minnesota 20
The Vikings helped further complicate the playoff picture in the AFC when Gary Anderson kicked a 53-yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining, upsetting the AFC East leading Miami Dolphins, 20-17. Three plays after catching a 60-yard pass from Daunte Culpepper, Randy Moss threw a touchdown pass to D'Wayne Bates on an end around, giving the Vikings a 17-14 lead with 11:53 remaining. Olindo Mare's 25-yard field goal tied the contest at 17 with 6:09 left, before Anderson delivered the game winner.
San Francisco 17
Arizona 14
In a game that meant little as far as playoff implications, Jeff Garcia completed 23-of-39 passes for 256 yards and a touchdown. Garrison Hearst added a score as the 49ers held on for a 17-14 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
Philadelphia 27
Dallas 3
The Eagles got all the points they needed on a 5-yard touchdown run by Duce Staley early in the first quarter of Saturday's contest. The Cowboys offense put in an anemic performance, failing to cross into Eagles territory until late in the third quarter. After the game a dejected Emmitt Smith said, "I want to apologize to all Cowboys fans. This was an embarrassing performance".
Sunday
New Orleans 13
Cincinnati 20
Filling in for the injured Corey Dillon, Nick Luchey ran for two touchdowns, including a 3-yard run with 1:46 to play, giving the Bengals a 20-13 upset victory and their first win over a non-expansion team. The Saints playoff hopes are in serious jeopardy after unexpected losses to big underdogs in their past two games.
Chicago 14
Carolina 24
Chicago struck early with a 76-yard Chris Chandler touchdown pass to wide receiver Dez White, but the Bears offense was knocked off track when Chris Chandler was knocked out of the game with a concussion shortly after. Before he was knocked from the game, Chandler completed 7-of-8 passes for 113 yards. Third-stringer Henry Burris completed 8-of-22 for just 50 yards and lost two fumbles that led to Carolina scores. Chicago lost four fumbles, had a field-goal attempt blocked and was forced to punt 10 times.
Detroit 15
Atlanta 36
Quenton McCord had a career day with seven catches for 182 yards and a touchdown. Michael Vick completed 20-of-38 passes, including a 20-yard touchdown to McCord and a 44-yarder to Brian Finneran. Atlanta snapped a two-game losing streak and can clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Browns next weekend.
Houston 10
Washington 26
Washington punter Craig Jarrett had two 10-yard punts and had another blocked for a Houston touchdown, and Jose Cortez missed two field goals. Despite the miscues in the kicking game, the Redskins were able to get by the Texans behind 100-yard rushing performances by both Ladell Betts (116) and Kenny Watson (110).
San Diego 22
Kansas City 24
Trent Green connected with Marc Boerigter on a 99-yard touchdown pass and the Chiefs put together drives of 88 and 66 yards as they slipped by the Chargers on a 38-yard Michael Husted field goal with 1:08 left. The loss was the third in a row for San Diego.
Tennessee 28
Jacksonville 10
Eddie George ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries and Steve McNair passed for another to help the Titans get by Jacksonville, 28-10. With the win, the Titans became the first team in the AFC to clinch a playoff spot and the first champion of the new AFC South. Tennessee has now won nine of it's last ten games.
NY Giants 44
Indianapolis 27
Amani Toomer had a career-high 204 yards receiving and caught three second-half touchdown passes, while rookie Jeremy Shockey caught seven passes for 116 yards as the Giants exploded for 44 points in Indianapolis. Kerry Collins was 23-of-29 for a career-high 366 yards and threw four touchdown passes.
Buffalo 0
Green Bay 10
After dedicating the game to his 16-year-old cousin who died of a congenital heart defect less than 24 hours earlier, Vonnie Holliday set a team record by sacking Drew Bledsoe five times and forcing him to fumble on three of them in Green Bay's 10-0 victory over the Buffalo Bills. Donald Driver caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre with 7:23 remaining to give the Packers control of the game.
St. Louis 10
Seattle 30
Matt Hasselbeck continued his improved play Sunday, throwing for 303 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks 30-10 win over the disappointing Rams. St. Louis quarterback Marc Bulger injured his back on the team's fourth play from scrimmage and was taken to an area hospital.
Denver 16
Oakland 28
After opening up a 21-0 lead, Oakland survived a solid second-half comeback led by Denver backup Steve Beuerlein. With the win, the Raiders clinched the AFC West and a playoff spot. Rich Gannon needs 475 yards in the season finale against Kansas City to break Dan Marino's record of 5,084 yards passing set in 1984.
Cleveland 14
Baltimore 13
Tim Couch capped a late 92-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Mark Campbell with 29 seconds left, and Phil Dawson kicked the extra point to give Cleveland a 14-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Sunday Night
NY Jets 30
New England 17
Chad Pennington's three touchdown passes and some questionable play-calling by the Pats late in the game allowed the Jets to avoided playoff elimination and kept their AFC East Championship hopes alive. If New York beats Green Bay and New England beats Miami next weekend, the Jets will win the AFC East.
