Comment on This Mock Draft
17. Saints - Boss Bailey OLB - Bailey is a beast, but he misses many tackles. He can probably play safety as well, although he would be kind of tall for that position at 6'4. The Saints need help on defense and Bailey would be an upgrade for an aging LB corps.
18. Saints (via Miami) - Marcus Trufant CB - The Saints need a corner as well and Trufant would really help their pass defense. Newman could go here as well if he was available.
19. Patriots - Larry Johnson RB - The Pats could probably use a faster back, one who is a little better than Antawan Smith. Johnson seems to be a good back, but the last few greatly-hyped Penn State backs have been busts. Johnson performed poorly against good teams this year, so, in my opinion, this pick would be a bust. Lee Suggs could also go here as he is probably a safer pick.
20. Broncos - The Broncos could go many ways with this pick. Either a DE, QB, WR or OL. The Broncos will probably get a DE like Cory Redding or any of the others mentioned before if they are available. Maybe a DT like Darnell Dockett if he declares or Jarett Johnson.
21. Browns - Brett Williams OT - Butch Davis was drooling at a possible chance to accquire Bryant McKinnie during his holdout, but that obviously didnt happen. The Browns could use a good, solid tackle to protect Couch and Williams is as good as any in the draft.
22. Jets - Troy Polamalu S - The Jets biggest weakness is probably in the secondary, and Polamalu would be an instant upgrade. Mike Doss could also be a selection here or a LB like Lance Briggs or Boss Bailey (if available) could go here as well since the Jets have an aging LB corps.
23. Falcons - The Birds need a great WR to be paired with Mike Vick. Preferably one with great speed since they play on turf. Andre Johnson if available, Brandon Lloyd or Taylor Jacobs would all be good fits here as they are good route runners. Johnson is probably the biggest project but his raw skills would make him the best, but he probably wont be available in the late first round. Rashaun Woods could also go here but he is a little slower, but a big time reciever none the less.
24. Colts - Dennis Weathersby CB - The Colts need a good corner and Weathersby is solid, just a little less regarded when compared to Trufant and Newman.
