1) Cincinnati Bengals - William Joseph, DT, Miami. I just think they're still feeling the burn from the Akili Smith fiasco, so much so that they'll avoid Leftwich, which they shouldn't, because unlike Smith, he's the real deal. After failing to trade down, they'll be stuck having to make a pick, and I think it will be Joseph, and they shouldn't feel any shame there.
2) Houston Texans - Charles Rogers, WR, Michigan St. I just don't see how they can pass on the guy. I'm sure their main goal will be to get Carr some playmakers, and this guy is unbelievable. An easy choice for them.
3) Chicago Bears - Byron Leftwich, QB, Marshall. This would be a perfect fit for the Bears. He could watch for a year behind Miller/Chandler (while the Bears improve just from being healthier) and be ready to take over in 2-3 years. The WR's are already in place, and I think this guy is a star waiting to happen.
4) Dallas Cowboys - Roy Williams, WR, Texas. As much for marketing as it is for his skills, the Cowboys will select Roy Williams for the 2nd year in a row as their first overall pick. I wonder how they'll do the names on the jerseys? I'm in Big 12 country, and I think Williams might be a touch overrated. He's been injured, so it's hard to say. He just doesn't seem to have that special quality the elite receivers have where he always wants the ball and will make the tough catch when it really counts. Plus, his diet is unbelievably awful (they actually had a story here in Austin on the things he eats, and it's ridiculous. you'd think he was an o-lineman). His measurables will get him drafted this high, though.
5) Detroit Lions - Andre Woolfolk, CB, Oklahoma. I think they will probably trade down, even if they have to get a bit of a bad deal to do so. They've just got so many holes that one high pick can't fill. If they don't trade down, I think they take the best player available at a position of need, and Woolfolk fits.
6) Carolina Panthers - Dave Ragone, QB, Louisville. They gotta do something about their QB situation. Now is the time to do it, while they can still get something from Peete, and let Ragone sit and learn for a year (I'm a big believer in the QB not starting until his 2nd year. I understand sometimes there are no other options, but if possible, it's the best bet). The Panthers need to have a strong draft the rest of the way to improve next season.
7) Minnesota Vikings - Jerome McDougle, DE, Miami. Can't remember the last time the Vikes had an impact DE (Doleman maybe?). They need one, and the way I see it, it's a toss up between McDougle and DeWayne White of Louisville. When in doubt, go with the Cane.
8) Seattle Seahawks - Jimmy Kennedy, DT, Penn St. The Seahawks have to find a way to stop the run. This guy does just that. Won't get the best pressure, but will immediately make their LB's better by clogging up the middle.
