George Allen started his coaching career at Morningside College in 1948 before leaving for Whittier College in 1951, where he spent the next six years. He made his NFL debut with the Rams in 1957, and a year later was hired by the Chicago Bears as a defensive assistant. In 1963, Allen was awarded the game ball following the NFL Championship Game in which his defense recorded five turnovers. Later was named to his first NFL head coaching assignment with the Rams. George Allen passed away on December 31, 1990 at the age of 72.
