The XFL debuted Saturday night on NBC, and professional football may never be the same. Vince McMahon and Dick Ebersol promise to take us places we have never been before on the football field, over the course of this season. They promise to take us deeper inside this violent game than we have been before.
Cameras will be everywhere. They'll be on the sideline when the head coach is ripping one of his players. They'll be in the huddle when the game's on the line. And you can bet they will be on the cheerleaders every chance they get.
The games themselves should be very interesting this first season, but how well the league will be received by sports fans is yet to be seen. So far the curiosity of the average football fan seems to be present, and interest should be high the first few weeks. But if this fledgling football league doesn't deliver as promised, that interest will soon disappear.
With a new football league, it is nearly impossible to predict who will come out on top in the end, so I am going to give you a little information on each XFL team, along with some of the key players on the team.
You can try to assess the talent levels yourself, but be careful. Most of these guys have never played together before, so it's tough to say how well they will play together.
